It was the best, right? I couldn't turn it off. Ironically I saw that movie in College Station, but the line was so long that we missed the first scene with Roth and Plummer. Made the ending a little weird.

I'm about 20 minutes in, but their initial discussion about the anticipation for the movie isn't how I remember it. Maybe it's because I was in HS, where there are very few people that follow the industry, but I don't really remember anyone outside of critics really caring all that much initially. Pulp Fiction came out when I was starting to really get into movies. I would generally go to at least one movie every weekend, sometimes more. My memory is that a friend and I went to see it on opening weekend, and the theater wasn't empty, but it was far from full. We absolutely loved the movie, and couldn't stop taking about it all week. We got a big group together to go see it the next weekend, and by then, word of mouth had spread and the theater was packed for my second viewing. Word of mouth definitely spread very quickly, but I don't really remember normal people talking about it until after it came out.

One of the reasons that Sergio Leone featured long, sweeping shots in his Clint Eastwood westerns was that he loved Ennio Morrone's score so much, he didn't want to stop the music playing.

Tobey Maguire was seriously considered for the part of Officer Jake Hoyt in Training Day. He even followed undercover narcotics officers in Los Angeles for two months and gained weight for the role. He was dropped when Ethan Hawke, Fuqua's first choice, was finally available for the shooting schedule.

While I would have loved to see Spider-man getting wet on some PCP. Him beating up Denzel seems like the worst thing ever.
