My PRS acoustic came from The Tone Shop with 13's and I have that knocked down to 10's.

I vascillate between 11's and 12's, but I like the 12's on my Epi Jumbo, so that's a deal! I like 11's generally on my Larrivee D-03R though.

Questions...

Preface, I am not the guitar player. This is for my son. He picked it up and has gotten quite good. You guys helped my purchase a mid-level Yamaha a couple years ago.

1. He needs a strap. I know that he could get something simple at the local store. However, I would like to get him something nice for Christmas. Thoughts?

2. To help him further his understanding of music structure, I was thinking of getting him a Loop Pedal. I am leaning towards the Boss RC-10R. Question, is this a good purchase. I am nervous of his attention level and getting bored with it. I think it would be cool, but what do you guys think that have experience? He owns an acoustic and an electric.

first off...this is awesome....kudos to you!

1) Straps (like guitars) can sometimes be a very personal preference to players....I would slyly ask him if he likes his current strap or if he'd like one. Then keep digging....he very well might have a few in mind. Personally I like a wider strap for comfort, but I definitely had a sweet snake strap when I was younger and was more interested in looks....that I later discovered wasn't comfortable and changed it up. Again, personal tastes...wish I could give you a more concrete answer/solution.

2) You can never go wrong with BOSS pedals....I think he'd be STOKED to receive that model, but I'll defer to the rest of the thread to chime in with their thoughts.

I have a few boss pedals and they're all good. Heck, one of them is probably older than a lot of people posting on this thread and it's still working! RC-10 looks nice. I have an RC-5 but I don't use it nearly enough to be an expert on looping.

I've got (well I just sold it actually) a vox cry baby wah that was probably early 90s.
Like the boss pedals, they're pretty much little metal tanks. I do have a tube screamer that is from the 90s as well.
