Not sure if this is indicative of the state of the guitar market right now or how much fluff is built into the price, but damn that's a lot off for a guitar I didn't even have on my watch list.

about 15 years ago I got my vintage 62 strat as a 'new old stock' (previously never purchased, but sat 3 years in a warehouse).
New was about $1600-$1800 at the time, I paid $1100, over 30% off.

Luxury goods have been inflating faster than most things in the recent years.

I won't be surprised to see a lot of folks offering deals like this sooner than later.

It's always good to follow guitars on Reverb you are kind of interested in. I've had many of these reach out to me with a big discount.

I've got several on my list just for that reason, but I got this offer because it was similar to something I had on my list. The discounts just keep getting bigger and the individual sellers are dropping their prices pretty quickly too.

And honestly, mid $5 thousands was always way overpriced on these. It all went off the rails when the government started handing out checks like candy during covid and now it's finally looking to be coming back down to earth.

For you Houston area guitar nerds, our Pink Floyd tribute is playing at Continental Club next Friday night. Start between 9:30-10 and have a 2 hour set give or take. \m/

Us And Them @ Continental Club Houston

Main guitar for this one is my G&L S-500 w/ D-Allen pickups (below), but also use a Larrivee D-03R acoustic, my previously pictured Jimmy Page Les Paul (basically a '59 reissue), and a Taylor 356CE 12 string.

Anyone have a birth year guitar? I'm intrigued by the notion of a guitar of my vintage. I've been watching blonde Telecasters from the mid-70s. Even though they are CBS era, prices appear to stay $3k plus. I'm tempted, but maybe it's better to get a FCS blackguard and know it's a well built guitar that doesn't weigh 9lbs.

That's not something that had occurred to me. And now that idea is in my brain.

I'd never though about it. Did a quick Google search for "1983 guitar" and found a couple of Peavey made in USA Milestones for about $600 each. Now I'm tempted

Well now I'm irritated.

This kid has a '68 Gibson 12-string and I don't.

I've thought about doing that, and considering an '87 Les Paul Custom, but that's a purchase I can't fork out money on for a while.

NPD.... Flowerklön

This was a fun build with the kids. JHS are marketing wizards for coming with this build kit. I think they're over 30k sold now. I ordered in January because why not and didn't get #22314 until June.

If you seen the video of him Live At The El Mocambo, you'll know that he sweated most of the finish from that Strat that night.

That whole concert is mindblowing from start to finish.

The licks just flow out of his hands and that Strat like he is watering a garden with a hose and sprayer.

I just did the same and my google search of 1978 for some reason led me to a 1960 Fender strat replica of Mike McCready's first guitar he bought when beginning to play with Pearl Jam.

This is something I didn't know existed and that I now absolutely need and should definitely not be spending money on at the moment. I hate this thread.

Where does the tone come from in guitar amps?

Have we talked about this?

Literally everything in the build contributes to the tone, albeit some components affect the tone more than others. The quality of the components can also affect tone of an amp.

All I know is i've owned many different amps in my life, and nothing really clicked for me until my current one. It's always about chasing that sound in your head.
