Nevermind

Sweetwater doesn't carry this one. That tells me a lot.

GC has three-star reviews.

Gonna pass.

SAM ASH has a big sale going right now, and there are some killer coupon codes that can be used on top of the sale discounts!

https://slickdeals.net/f/16989289-sam-ash-sale-fender-prs-esp-schecter-epiphone-electric-guitars-more?src=frontpage

I've been watching reviews of guitars on YouTube and one guitar that has pretty much got rave reviews in every video I've seen is the PRS DGT SE. I love the gold top look, and it's only $679 right now (sale price) but the DVD coupon code gets it down below $600!

They're out of stock right now, but I don't mind waiting! I'm psyched! (Do me a favor and don't jump me in line, if this guitar motivates you! Get the tobacco burst with bird inlays!!!)

Will post pic when I get mine, but it'll be something like:

edit hoping to get image that will embed...

Nice! Thats awesome finding a sale on that one. PRS has taken 20% off all their SE models except the DGT through the end of the year including the new CE SE and Swamp Ash Special SE they just released this week.

All of the reviews on the guitar are good.

The coolest part is how I'll sound just like David Grissom once I get it! He's one of my faves!

Anybody looking to get a new PRS SE model (except for the Grissom model), they are all 20% off. Everywhere, allegedly.

Use the time stamps on this one:

That new swamp ash SE is sweet. Darrell Braun does a good review video of it but DallasTeleAg will have a seizure if I post it.

New acoustic day. Oregon series Concert CE from Breedlove. Sitka top, Myrtelwood back and sides. Incredibly bright, punchy and balanced. Just a beautiful playing guitar. So much more balanced and clear than the guitar it replaced.

Beautiful.

How does it play (action, harmonics, etc)?

My Yairi rips like an electric playing, but my Larrivee's sound is significantly better though you fight it compared to the Yairi. Apples and oranges of course.

I've only had it one day, but the action is perfect. Very easy for my crappy fingers to play. The bass doesn't dominate, but it's clear and round. It excels in the midrange and trebles. It's so clear and bright, it almost sounds like it's singing… because it projects so well. So glad I bit the bullet and bought it. I live about 250 miles from Bend, so it's nice to have something "local".

It's a beauty. Great choice!

Also, username might check out depending on what you play with it.

First time poster, medium time lurker.

Got my first Tele. It's an ultra telecaster with an ebony fretboard and noiseless pickups. Love the color, mystic pine with a gold anodized pickguard. The build quality is fantastic. I'm not super impressed with the pick ups. May give them a month or two to see if I can dial them in. If not will most likely upgrade to some lambertone single coils.

Pretty axe. Now we're talking my kind of guitar!

Completely agree on replacing the pickups. I absolutely hate noiseless "single coil" pickups. You want the amazing tone, dynamics, and all around awesomeness of single coil pickups? Then you deal with the 60 cycle hum. Noiseless pickups just sound lifeless, to me.

Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like the noise pickups!

All,

I posted about 5 pages back about shopping for an upgrade acoustic for my son in the $1,000 range. Several of you provided feedback. Update...

Long story short, we were at a Guitar Center in another city, trying out a Taylor 214ce. For some reason, it did not sound good. Probably something about that particular guitar, but it wasn't that nice. The salesman climbed a ladder and handed a guitar to my son that everyone was saying sounded great. From the first strum, it was amazing. Best sounding guitar we have tried in 2 months. It was a Yamaha AC3R. My son told me, "Dad this is the guitar! However, I really don't like this color." Not exactly sure why Yamaha loves their Yamaha Gold color, but he didn't warm up to it. So, we left w/o guitar.

Since this trip I have read many reviews stating that the guitar is highly rated. The Yamaha pickup is fantastic and the acoustic tone is quite rich. Anyhow, after much research and discussion, daddy has won! Side note - please chalk this up as a win for all he dads out there. Several ffreinds have also helped by encouraging him not to chase looks, but to chase sound first. SOUND >>>> LOOKS. He has now agreed.

Also, I found a used one nearby that is is excellent condition and at 65% of new cost. So win win!

Just make sure he plays it before buying. Just being the same model doesn't mean it will play and sound the same. We're dealing with wood, so every single guitar is unique.

He will learn. When you pull down a guitar, play it, and the feel and tone blows your mind... you buy it.

That's how I ended up with an ugly super heavy relic telecaster in gold sparkle. Pretty? Lol, nope. Plays and sounds good? Better than any guitar I have played in the last 20 years.

I posted a few pages back on a technique that I was working on with a buddy, who is also an Aggie and a luthier. Not ready to share all, but did want to share some photos of a very badass guitar that he just finished. Walnut body with an ebony fretboard. I'm more of a cabinet guy, but this is a really nice piece of woodworking.

What's the weight on that thing?

It is heavier than a typical guitar, and he took a lot of steps to reduce weight where he could, but it's what someone wanted.

I haven't bought the used one yet. We will see it Saturday and possibly purchase it or head back to GC for the new one.

I was just revisiting this thread to pull those photos and repost them for you!

Looks like your edits worked!

That's a beauty of a guitar. If it plays anything like the one I tried, it will be hard to put down. Having a guitar that is easy to play makes me want to pick it up more.

Got my new toy Fri. Orangewood Echo Live Vintage. Always wanted an acoustic/electric but can't justify or play well enough to go for a Collings like my buddy who inherited it (OM2 I believe). For under 5 bones, the echo plays beyond budget.
