The sad thing is how much that guitar actually would auction for today... and he burned it.

Didn't deserve to be played by anyone but Jimi

One of the most iconic images in rock history. I had that poster on my wall in college as did millions of others I'm sure.

If you knew, and I know you know, any of the musicians I know, we can be a bunch of degenerates. And some of the best musicians are the absolute craziest. Could you imagine letting strangers handle your musical equipment?

It still sold for $380k.

I am surprised it wasn't Jim Irsay

Anyone have any experience with Friedman amps?

My primary amp is my Tone King Imperial, but sometimes I feel like playing through a Bristish style amp to get those Plexi like tones. I've been using my Victory Sheriff 22 head for a while, but I'm thinking I would prefer something a bit different.

I've been looking at the 20w heads that Friedman offers and trying to get as much info for each as I can. Unfortunately, I can't think of anywhere in town I could go play them all to try. I'm looking at the Rung 20, Pink Taco, and Little Sister.

Anyone played either of those and have opinions?

The Captain and Danish Pete might help you!

Who are you talking to?

I've obviously exhausted all Andertons videos on Friedman 20w amps in my search.

Please wear a body cam so we can see the reaction of the salesperson when you go into GC and ask to try one of their pink tacos.

Friedman's will get canceled over that.

Remember the kid I told you about whose mom complained that all of their disposable income was going to GC for new guitars for this teen son of hers? And she said he was up to five Player Strats if I remember correctly.

I stopped by GC today to look at stands and see if they had any sales on anything I wanted. The kid and the dad were in there. He was trying out an Epiphone Les Paul. Had an amp cranked pretty good and was going through Symphony of Destruction and some other stuff (Ozzy, Metallica).

I wasn't there long enough to see if he went home with a new guitar. Dad looked more bored than last time.

The other guys that came in to try out guitars were drowned out pretty well and they didn't want to crank up and compete for sound space.

Hate people who do that.

And I still think owning that many low range Strats is stupid. Sell them all and buy a single nice custom shop strat.

I don't know the answer to that. I don't think he drives yet.

And I agree with the above. Sell a bunch of those and get a good one.

Side note: in the used section, they had a cream colored Harley Benton S-type. It's not on their site listings yet so it must have just come in.

That's the first HB I've seen in person. It played ok.

Fret ends were rough. Bridge/trem was cheap. Tuners looked like they were probably pretty cheap. I was surprised it played as well as it did. They had it priced at $199 which is probably not much different than how it was priced new.

Yeah, that just sounds like a lot of guitars in a short amount of time.

My dad got me a BC Rich Warlock Bronze Edition for my first guitar. (Still have it, love it) He saw that I played a ton and started joining little bands and playing shows. I think the old man really enjoyed me playing live and watching me (something you don't realize until you have kids of your own why parents like that). I had a job and he would help me out with buying nicer stuff as the band got better and and started playing bigger shows.

So who knows, maybe thats the case for this kid too.

Anybody been thinking about a wireless option for guitar or bass? Stupid Deal of the Day has the XVive on sale.

I have a Line 6 to use with the Yamaha wireless practice amp. It's okay.

That's awesome. I remember back in the day I used a wireless system that was like a wireless router for your amp and the. You wore a cassette tape like box transponder on your jeans or guitar strap

This is more of a new guitar hangar post, but I figured I'd organize my office / music room by hanging most of my electrics on the wall. The rosewood Tele from my prior post will stay in its case, but I figured I'd get these out of the closet to clear up space (and make it easier to get to the acoustics and Tele). From let to right, '96 Carvin TL60, ~'87 Strat Plus, '98 Danelectro U-2, and a '16 Epiphone ES-175 Premium. Nothing super special, but they're all unique in their own way and they make decent wall art.

The comments on that Twitter thread are interesting.

"The Burque" evidently has a major crime problem and people are fed up with it.

When my cab arrives and I get rid of my amp, the only thing I'll lose is reverb.

So right after Christmas, before my wife implemented an f'ing "budget" for 2023, I bought a TC Electronics Hall of Fame 2 reverb pedal.

This is the single most fun pedal I've bought since maybe, and possibly moreso, than when I first bought a Crybaby when I was 16 so I could play the new smash Metallica single Enter Sandman.

My Boss CE-2 when I was also 16? Cool.
My first delay? Ok, I can use this, but it really just got me closer to the sound in my head and on the radio.
Digitech Whammy-D - ok that is pretty damn fun but I'm too lazy to learn to do more than a few things with it, and most of the time I use it an octave doubler so I could get the same with 1/5 of the footprint using a stand alone octave pedal.

The Hall of Fame 2 -

Mother. Of. God.

I plugged it in, sat on the floor in front of my pedal board w/its "normal" settings, i.e. a slight delay and Keeley comp engaged. Set the knobs on the HF2 at noon, and cycled through the reverb settings on clean tone.

I'd hit a chord or note, hear it ring, mash the "mash" switch to see what it did, and move on. Cool. THey all sound good and I could spend years tweaking to nail a tone, having fun the entire time.

I haven't even tried the short/long pre-delay yet.

I've barely scratched the surface but I'm all in on the "shoegaze" rock movement after finding Shimmer. I could be a star. Except it feeds into my "zone out and be lazy" tendencies. If I smoked pot I might not leave my room other than to piss...for weeks on end. I know, shimmer is on its way out, but it is knew to me. no idea how I'd use it other than for myself, but that's pretty much all I play for these days. My wife said it sounded really cool from across the house.

Wow. This thing is damn f'ing fun!

Edit to add: I thought the foot switch not having a "click" for on/off versus putting pressure on it to activate the expression would be difficult. Not at all. Like a hand to glove, I love not having the physical click of the typical spring loaded switch. Quickly it w/your foot and it is on/off, press and hold (then push more if you want) and it activates the expression.
Staff - take out the trash.

New amp day! Did a lot of research on the best 20w option to get plexi and Lead tones and the Little Sister kept coming up. I put a tracker on Reverb because there were no used ones up there for a couple of weeks. One finally popped up and I paid fair market value for it. Just arrived today, and my neighbor is going to have to deal with it for a while.

One thing I read and can definitely confirm is how fantastic this master volume is. This thing sounds great at low volumes, though obviously not exactly the same as higher volumes because you aren't pushing the speaker and moving any air.

I'm gonna have some fun dialing in some tones, this weekend!
