Thanks! It's the reason I went ahead and pulled the trigger on it without spousal approval. I really want to grab an Eriza Verde CE to go with it.

They're definitely still out there. I picked up a Avenged Sevenfold anthology tab book several weeks ago. It's a big enough learning curve for me already without having to try and deal with tabs online not lining up just right. Figured I'd pay the money and just get the book. Apparently Hal Leonard books purchased after 2015 have a digital code too.

I got a new tortoise pickguard for the partscaster when I went to the Dallas guitar show. The old one was black

If you enjoy unadulterated guitar porn, this thread is for you. It's loaded with pictures of Private Stocks in progress. I can't remember if I've posted it before, but PRS posts pictures every Friday.

Got this HSS Sienna Burst strat today. It's my first swamp ash and my first maple fretboard guitar. I'm more of a single coil player, but I thought I'd give this a go and see - I rarely play my other strat bridge pickup anyway.

I just gave it a 30 min test drive to make sure everything is working - seems to be ok. The trem is set to float which I can't stand, so i'm gonna have to deck it and redo the setup, but no big deal.

Sienna Burst and Tobacco Burst are the two best finishes Fender ever did. At least for the non-Custom Shop stuff.

For all my fellow Gibson owners out there, what do you think about the decline in Les Paul quality? I own a 2002 LP Standard which is an absolutely amazing guitar. Amazing and smooth neck feel with barely any file marks on the neck. I mean... maybe one little mark. The quality control on this thing is just immaculate, and the figuring is beautiful.

My 2017 Classic looks great, but I can definitely feel the neck isn't as great, and there is a lot of file checking on the fretboard. I thought the dip in quality control was because it was a Classic and not a Standard.

I stopped by Guitar Center today and walked into the Les Paul room. Every LP Standard there had a lot of file checking on the board and the binding edge was so sharp. My Standard's binding edge has a very comfortable roll to it.

From what I have read, the 2002 model Standards had above normal quality control because it was the 50th anniversary of the Les Paul. This is why that year of LPs had Plus tops and are highly regarded.

Anyone else compare newer LPs to older ones and see an obvious difference in build quality? Definitely not something I see in Fenders or PRS guitars. For a $2,000-$2,400 guitar, I would expect a much higher build quality.

I will say, my 2016 '61 Reissue ES-330 VOS is a my #2 and is absolutely fantastic, but it was made in their Memphis location before they shut it down.

I haven't had a Gibson for more than a decade, but I have seen people complaining about build quality for a while now. I got the impression they've been going cheap while still charging premium prices.

What ever became of the FBI raid on them? I think it was over illegal woods.

I actually had a Les Paul Special made after that raid. The FBI took all their rosewood, so the Special had a baked maple fretboard. I want to say that was some time around 2011 or 2012.

I had a 2015 LP Deluxe that was fantastic as far as fit and finish was concerned. I even liked the robot tuners, although I went ahead and swapped them out with Hipshots. I also replaced the mini humbuckers with Gibson P90s. I wound up flipping it for $250 more than I paid for it.

I don't own a LP and never have, but I've played a few over the years - bandmate's or loners from friends. The best one I played was a mid '90's Classic (w/ swapped pickups). I haven't played any of the last 5-6 year's models, but I've read some of the stories and it's pretty depressing.

I have played a newer LP Jr DC, and that guitar felt and sounded killer.

If you don't mind the idea of a bolt-on LP style guitar you might want to keep an eye on the thread below. This dude's Warmoth collection was ridiculous as I recall and if he goes through with selling them there are going to be some beauties available.

Great video.

I too am looking for amp solution for my home as well.

Great info guys, keep it coming!

Any recommendations for guitar wall hangers? I've six guitars all in cases just leaned up against walls in my small home office.

I use the wooden string swing wall hangers. I believe Hercules makes one that has the little arms that go in front of the neck when the weight of the guitar hits it like their stands too, but I never really understood the need for that on a wall hanger.

I use String Swings.

String Swing

They come with heavy duty drywall anchors if you don't have a convenient stud. Here is part of my setup (got two more string swings off to the other side of the window).

Has anyone tried a Dean Z-Glide guitar? I finally got to play on one the other day, and it wasn't as weird as I thought it would be.

Never heard of them but seems like an interesting concept. Would definitely like to play one and see what it's like.

I would have scoffed at relicced necks before I played one. Now, my CS Tele's relicced neck is the most comfortable I have ever played.

Got the purple guitar back today. Dragon II pickups installed, new saddles, replaced the push/push with a new push/pull, replaced the three way switch, and got a setup.

My buddy has at least one I think. I haven't spent much time playing them. I'll ask him which one(s) he has and his impressions.

Cool and all, but that's all stuff you can do yourself! Why would you give it to someone else to have all the fun?!

I love tinkering with that stuff on my guitars...

I've done some of it before. Opened the control cavity, took a look, and noped right on out of that.

For anyone that's a tone nerd I recommend LambChopper 678 on YouTube. He puts out videos once he figures out a classic metal guitar tone. But he only uses small rigs like a Marshall DSL20 or EVH 15 watt head. It can get pretty complicated like using multiple EQ pedals but it's really fun to see him figure out some awesome tones.

Here's one for an example.

Old guitar, but new amp and cab.
This is my first ever tube amp. I've had it home about an hour and loving it.

The rocker terror sounds great even when turned down to 1amp. It's crunchy with volume at 2 and gain turned to 6.

I haven't turned it up to full 15 watts yet. Waiting for wife to go run an errand or something.
I've got it hooked up to a celestion vintage 30 1x12 speaker. No comparison to the fender mustang ss amp or Yamaha thr10. This sound is just way fuller( is that a word?).

Now to get some pedals to go with it.
