Just watched the casino royale episode in S2 and they date the nasa spacesuit from 2033-2079? because it has 52 stars. Guess DC and Puerto Rico will be added in the next 13 years.
cool. I didn't realize he even had that much control.Cactus Jack said:
I'm only looking on Wikipedia so take it with a grain of salt. Roddenberry had a lot of control (although not complete) over TNG's creation and was deeply involved in Season 1. Per a biographer he wrote the framework and pitch material ("series bible"). He started phasing out in Season 2 and by the end of Season 3 he wasn't very much involved at all. His last writing credit was for "Datalore" in Season 1.
(To be clear, since some take ST so seriously, I was joking about him being racist).

Yeah, what the hell was the reason for ditching Dr Crusher and bringing Pulaski in for a season? Terrible move.
It was a rocky tie on the show..... initially word from the show was that she left to pursue other interests. But the story that came out later was she was surprised by the move and they removed her - she thinks because she had raised concerns several times about the sexist nature of some of the material.
alot of season 2 is crap. iirc there was a writers strike at the time, so they had to recycle some scripts that were meant for star trek phase 2, which was a followup show to TOSCactus Jack said:
Just started season two. Is episode one of season two the worst opening episode of any series, ever? What was the point? There wasn't even any sort of life lesson or preachiness.
Troi gets knocked up by a ball of light. Baby grows really fast and she gives birth in a few days. Baby turns into a four-year-old then an 8 or 9 year old within a few days. They ask it was the purpose of it was, but he's not able to say.
Simultaneously, the crew takes on a dangerous cargo of deadly virus samples. One of the viruses starts growing so much that it's going to break containment on whatever force field is holding it in place. They realize that there's some sort of radiation somewhere that's causing it to grow really fast. Turns out it's the kid.
The kid says oh wait I guess I have to go now, then dies and disappears. The virus gets contained. End of episode.
What exactly was the point?
That might have been the official story at the time, but she was fired.Sweet Kitten Feet said:double aught said:

Gates McFadden had already committed to doing a play. They wrote her out for that season. She was directing star fleet medical for that year on the show.

An official announcement stated McFadden had left the series to pursue other career options. McFadden herself got a call from her agent who told her the producers had decided to go in another direction with the character. Like the other cast members, McFadden was surprised.[4] Thanks to a letter-writing campaign, support from Patrick Stewart, and a personal invitation from executive producer Rick Berman, McFadden was brought back to the TNG cast for the third and subsequent seasons, with her only three appearances for season two being stock footage.[4]

S2 was weak..... only 3 shows made my top 50 list.
S02E08: A Matter of Honor = Riker on a Klingon ship
S02E09: Measure of a Man = Data on trial, is he property or does he have rights?
S02E16: Q Who = Q episode where we meet the Borg
beyond those there was not a lot of depth. but those three were really good. Measure of a Man makes most top 10 or even top 5 lists.
