How long do you want to ignore this user?
I try unsuccessfully every year but making another go this year to watch 1 scary movie every day/night of October. Having to sprinkle in some light-hearted stuff this year for the SO, but looking for some of you horror gurus to give some suggestions on additions and possibly modifications.

Definites:

Cabin In the Woods
Evil Dead
Evil Dead 2
Shivers
The Thing
Night of the Living Dead
Psycho
Hereditary
Event Horizon (wouldn't normally be on my list but she has work friends that have talked about it so want her to see it)
New Nightmare (she has seen the original NOES countless times, but I want the series to still get it's due and this is the next best thing IMO)
Suspiria
Deep Red
Don't Look Now
Candyman
The Shining
Halloween

The "Give the girlfriend a reprieve" list:

Ghostbusters
Nightmare Before Christmas
Hocus Pocus
Addams Family

Still need to fill out 11 from this group, or any suggestions:

Let The Right One In
It Follows
Jason X (like NOES above I want to give F13th series it's due, and this is the most fun one of the bunch)
Rosemary's Baby
The Birds
Drag Me To Hell (am I remembering this one too fondly?)
Carrie
The Conjuring
The Exorcist
The Omen
An American Werewolf In London
Scream
Phantasm
The Vanishing
The Ring / Ringu (worth going Japanese subtitles if we're already having to go with both of Argento's films subtitled above?)
Curse of the Demon (wanted to throw in something old that I've never seen)

The Innocents (1961)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
The Haunting (1963)
The Collective

My wife and I really liked The Invisible Man and the Conjuring movies. The Annabelle series (prequels to the Conjurings) were so so.

Thirded for Army of Darkness.

For tv shows that fit the horrer model and also give your SO a break, add Ash vs. Evil Dead and Stan Against Evil.

For a low budget movie, this one nails the suspense & scare factor.

Definitely check out It Follows!!

The best Friday the 13th my ranking would be 1. Friday the 13th The Final Chapter, 2 Friday the 13th - Part VI: Jason Lives, 3. Friday the 13th - Part III,

Knew you guys would come through.

Reason I was passing on Army of Darkness is that it's more of a slapstick/action-adventure than true horror so I didn't want to waste one of the precious days with it. Evil Dead 2 only made the cut because... I've never actually seen Evil Dead 2.

It Follows will likely get cut as I still haven't lived down dragging people to that when it was released. It's a movie that definitely gets better on repeated viewings and I'll likely make it an afternoon watch.

Just recently watched Silence of the Lambs so it's out.

Won't subject her to House of 1000 Corpses / The Devil's Rejects. The former is a mess, the latter is excellent but doesn't fit the classic-mold.

I don't think I can even watch Audition. Though that does remind me I may try and shoehorn 'Cure' in, though I think I'm walking a dangerous line with subjecting her to horror AND subtitles.

Is the second Insidious worth the watch? Just watched Sinister last weekend and was surprised at how universally panned it was - I thought it was extremely well done.

I have to watch this every October.

It's probably my favorite horror movie. I love this movie so much....

4 and 6 are definitely the strongest in the series as far knowing what type of movie they wanted to be and excelling that that. 1 and 2 obviously get the nostalgia nod.

Jason X is extremely underrated as a horror comedy. It enjoys itself while making fun of itself.

But Friday the 13th Part 3 I simply can't watch because of how awkward all of the elongated "3D scenes that aren't in 3D" become. Why is this guy unwhirling his yoyo into the camera for 45 seconds straight? Why is does Jason suddenly throw every weapon?

And for those who wonder where I stand on things:

The Thing is the greatest horror movie of all time. Cabin In the Woods is the most enjoyable horror movie of the last 20 years. Hereditary is the best horror movie of the last 20 years (even with the god-awful Gabriel Byrne death scene).

Sinister wasn't panned. 63% on Rotten Tomatoes. Considered one of the better horror movies on the decade.

Sinister 2 was garbage. That might be what you are thinking of.

Insidious 2 is pretty good. Not going to win an Oscar but I thought it was creepy.
