I'm sure I won't get any agreement but I'll say Alien Versus Predator (the first one, not that God-awful second part). Yes, it's not a scare-fest like Alien, it has a very comic book feel to it (but hey, it was based on a comic book series that came out around 1989 or 1990), and it adds nothing to the existing Alien or Predator movies ... but like the original King Kong versus Godzilla (another one for this list, actually), the movie works for me.

Labyrinth is a ridiculous premise for a really good movie.

I actually had this thought about ALL movies last night when I saw this thread. To be honest, most movies would sound pretty bad/stupid if you described them in a completely objective manner.
But yeah, FG is a perfect example of that theory.

Brick by Rian Johnson. It's a film noir murder mystery set in high school with gumshoe detective type dialogue. It totally shouldn't work, but it's absolutely fantastic.

I'm going to put "50 First Dates" in the mix. If you cut about 5 minutes of the movie out (Some of the sillier stuff with the androgynous assistant) it's really a pretty dang good Rom com with a lot of heart.

The Rocketeer was a good one. I just rewatched that one for the first time in years on Disney+. But how did it inspire Iron Man given that Iron Man has been around since at least the 1960s, and the Rocketeer first appeared in the 1980s?
