Agreed. She's just... blah. That said, it looks like things are about to ramp up, so hopefully she becomes a little more likable/interesting given the circumstances.

I was thinking about commenting on the same thing basically. The show is great, but the actress who plays Lily... sucks.

Thought episode 5 was fantastic. The opening and closing montages to Oh I Wept by Free were great. Seeing Forest's tragedy was gut-wrenching. And we had very minimal speaking by Lily.
I assumed it was her death that was referenced a few episodes ago. But maybe we've passed the timeline on that already.M.C. Swag said:
The good news is that Lily is officially up to speed with everything that is going on (well almost, as we don't know what Katie deliberately omitted from their pow-wow). So that should help with the feeling of "sluggish-ness" everytime the story focuses on her part.
Oh yea, that might be it. Didn't even cross my mind.GreasenUSA said:I assumed it was her death that was referenced a few episodes ago. But maybe we've passed the timeline on that already.M.C. Swag said:

Interesting setup. I can't tell if they're hinting at an "end of the world" cataclysm or some sort of collapse of their machine, but I'm in!

It was painful watching Alison Pill (Katie) act circles around Sonoya Mizuno (Lily) in their big scene together.
It would make sense if they had a better actress. It really looked liked that was how the script was suppose to go..... but the script depended on a better actress to portray Lily. That's why the scene with Katie in the end where she was impressed with Lily looked weird.TCTTS said:

And because of that, the conversation that Katie had in bed with Forest after, where she was just in awe of Lily, rang so false to me. That said, I'm glad we've finally reached the point where everyone is caught up and the end game is in play, and I'm looking forward to see it all play out (even if my belief that Lily is one of the worst TV characters ever has continually been reinforced).

Man you aren't lying... Allison Pill is always so good. That was like watching an NBA player go one on one vs my 7-year-old niece... Who has never held a basketball.
But I did love Jamie and Forest's entire interaction outside. Especially when it cut to them playing frisbee.

And I guess Katie is all in on DEVS since she told Lily the truth about everything. She knows 100% Lily will show up and die at DEVS.
Agree 100% she's a weak actor, but i took the "brave/smart" comments as a result of her watching Lily through the simulation for some time and seeing her essentially grow up. So, in a weird way, she actually has intimate knowledge of Lily's character.CoolaidWade said:It would make sense if they had a better actress. lol i dont think anyone is criticizing the CHARACTER of Lily (we understand she's a computer geek), but the actors portrayal of her is 100% forced. Her acting just feels unnatural and is the only 1 in the show that actively reminds me I'm watching a show.Proposition Joe said:
You guys are going way overkill on the Lily hate.
Her role is that of a young computer-science-geek. She's not going to have a lot of depth and range in social situations.
She's not a great actress by any stretch, but I certainly don't feel like the way she's carried herself would be any different than your run-of-the-mill socially inept computer geek. Silicon Valley has us expecting too much out of our geeks
The biggest issue with Lily's character is just what part of her contract requires them to show off her bird legs and panties nineteen times an episode.

Maybe it's because I was working while watching, but can someone explain the Lyndon bridge jump scene to me? I don't get it at all or what it was supposed to prove.
