The original one is set in L.A.

-Its overly scripted
-has outlandish plots
-full of plot holes
-very formulaic
-okay acting

And I freaking love it. I eagerly await the Texas spinoff

Only cliche I didn't see was O&G related. Aside from that, yep Hollywood at its best.

I am not sure but after watching the trailer it looks like Lowe is supposed to be a NY fire captain that was recruited to fix problems for the Austin TX FD.

Homeless people attacking business owners, SJW protesters destroying property, and football coaches getting stuck in precarious situations...or not accurate.

I'm a Rob Lowe fan though.

The problem is that is filmed almost exclusively in LA with only some token Austin shots. I MIGHT be onboard if it were shot in Texas and the Texas landscape was an actual part of the show.

And I didn't see it, but someone mentioned that in one of the promos, they had the Texas flag upside down.

that may be the wrong term. The flow of the dialogue doesn't feel very natural at times.

I mean thats pretty standard. Most stuff is filmed in California, New York, or Georgia. Even Dumplin' which was originally set in west Texas in the book, was filmed in the greater Atlanta area.

Texas doesn't do nearly as much to entice production companies to film in the state. Also Those three places have a ton of baked in infrastructure now which makes it that much easier.

Horses, bulls, ropin', line dancin', and cowboy hats.

Yep. Pretty much how Hollywood views Texas. Like making NY or Jersey seem like everyone is a member of the Sopranos.

At time-stop 0:24, Rob Lowe's uniform says NYFD... shouldnt it be FDNY, or is this taking placing in the Spideyverse?

Yeah, true. But what makes it even more silly for us Texans is how everyone here knows that Austin isn't that far from LA culturally. Austin is anything but a sh*tkicker culture.

The whole point of the show is a hot guy dressed like a fireman.

I kept hoping it was going to cut to Fred Savage and Rob Lowe sitting on a couch talking about the new tv show that the Grinder had been cast for.

It should be. Maybe it was done intentionally because they didn't get the blessing of FDNY or some such.
