Anyone watching this?

Just started episode 1 with the wife.

It's an alternate history where the space race hasn't ended because the Russians made it to the moon first

Apollo 11 hasn't launched yet. The best part is "Yes, John Glenn actually said the word ****"

Very interested to see where this goes. I grew up in Clear Lake so it was cool to see the NASA Road 1 sign.

Apple TV+ is free for a year if you got an iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro, regardless of who you bought your phone through

Really enjoyed the last episode. It was slow but really set up what's about to come. Disappointed in who they sent to space, but Tracy Stevens is now my favorite character.

Of note: this is showrun by the same showrunner as for Battlestar Galactica

The most recent episode was.. intense.

Interested to see what the fallout is from Ed killing the Russian and Apollo 24.

That post credit scene though..

Thought it was a really good ending. Always cool to see a Houston Astros pennant as well.

I was very surprised to see the Russian was alive. There's a bunch of "oh come on" moments but this show is so good.

Can't wait for Season 2!!!! I am surprised that more are not watching this show! What an ending to season 1

It's a shame because these shows are a victim of people not wanting another seemingly unnecessary streaming service. I've loved this and The Morning Show.

Just finished Season 1 and found it very watchable. It probably won't enter the canon of 2020s television, but it's a solid way to spend 10 hours. I thought the first few episodes started slow, but it became a really compelling story with the Jamestown base when all the crew, mission control, and family dynamics intensified. The gender politics were laugh-out-loud cliche, so much so that it didn't detract terribly from an otherwise good story.

I thought it was comical and interesting how the Soviet's preempting the Apollo 11 landing caused Senator Ted Kennedy to cancel the party that led to Chappaquiddick. It made me smile that President Ted Kennedy turns out to be corrupt and philandering.

Poole deliberately breaking her arm to cover for Gordo's mental breakdown was moving stuff for me.

I feel like the alternate timeline implied some more rapid advancement in various consumer products and electronics. Maybe that would have been a real-world consequence if the Apollo program had continued.

They played fast-and-loose with some physics, but it's television.

Geez louise, the 60s and 70s had good music.

I started watching it and it's not bad not great. Agree with the above comment that the actress who plays Tracy Stevens may be the best of the bunch. Just seems a little directionless and cliche-ish sometimes. I'll watch for a while longer and see how it goes...

Wife and I finished the first season this week and were pleasantly surprised. This show's better than we expected. It's a little over the top at times, especially with some of the space action, but overall we like it.

Really enjoyed season one and I'm now working through season 2. New episodes are dropping on Fridays so I think we're up to episode 5 now. Love how the technology is based on real but canceled/unfunded concepts. Didn't know that Shackleton crater at the Lunar South Pole is where NASA actually confirmed water on the Moon (although 40 years after it was found on the show)!

Honestly my biggest complaint is shuttles orbiting the moon.

That's my question too. You would need to refuel, but the shuttle expends its tank plus those big RS-25s are sea level engines. Seems like they would need Starship

I think they're going a little too hard on the political themes in the most recent episodes, but I'm really enjoying the show.

Only thing I'm really weirded out by is the whole Karen and Gordo's kid sexual tension thing. I really hope they aren't actually taking it there. Just unnecessary.

My favorite "really!?" moment was when they landed a shuttle from space like it was an airplane.

Yeah. The last episode I thought they played that card pretty hard. They don't need to go there.

Season 1 Episode 8 is one of the most emotionally impactful tv episodes I have ever seen.

I love this show.

I think it has more to do with the age similarity of the actors than the characters. Johnson is 25 and and VanSanten is 36. The characters are 19 and 50.

At least I hope.

Anything that has been on the air isn't a spoiler, but since you put the tags on I will as well.
