How in the **** is Tool still not nominated?

Yeah, I'm huge Tool homer and thought the same thing.

I'm curious how they would nominate NIN and not Tool. Tool has sold more albums and will leave NIN in the dust once the new one has been out a while.

Not a knock on NIN cause I like them, but it seems to me that Tool has sold more albums and had a more sustained following.

Without looking up any sales numbers, I would have assumed NIN was bigger mainstream. But that could have to do w/ Trent's celebrity and praise as a producer/innovator, whether that's deserved or not.

Probably because NIN has been around longer.

Pretty weak class, imo.

I don't disagree, but that's on the RRHOF. They are the ones choosing to ignore bands like IM.

I looked them up fully expecting NIN to have more album sales, but actually tool is a bit over 10million right now and NIN is at 9 million.

Your last comment may be true. Again, I think Trent is brilliant and have no issue with their nomination. Just think tool is being slighted, as are many other bands such as Maiden as some of the others mentioned here.

And I gotta add, after the new album has been out, they absolutely deserve to be in.

It is incredible and I'd like to see a list of bands that put out material equally as good as their full catalogue AFTER being eligible for the RRHOF....I'm sure there's a few, but that list has to be small.

It's just going to get weaker and weaker too. I think Pat Benatar should have went in years ago, but there was alot of strong competition in earlier years. Now....all the sudden, she's on the ballot for the first time (Joan Jett before Pat??). Why is that? Well, maybe because "Me Too", but also because the number of superior bands or artist that released their 1st album 25 years ago (the minimum for induction) is shrinking rapidly. I mean, this year, we're talking about Weezer and Oasis. There's a reason why they didn't make the ballot in their 1st year of eligibility. Debut acts eligible for next year? Marylin Manson, Jay-Z and Eminem. You get the idea.

Joy Division / New Order snub has me so hacked off I decided to continue my personal boycott after a very brief reprieve following Cheap Trick's very long overdue induction.

BOYCOTT NOW

Rundgren and Zevon also - I'll be boycotting for a while

If only you'd boycott TexAgs.

I've endured several involuntary boycotts, including a permanent one I got reversed in less than a day.

Let's just say Staff has me in their email contacts.

This is a part of being a TexAgs Influencer.

The fact that Iron Maiden has not even had a single nomination is mind boggling. They have been a fairly stable band for 40 years and still touring and making music.

Crazy.

Wait hold up, I assumed he was already in but somehow Dio isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Shut it down, this is an illegitimate institution

Soundgarden will make it for sure.

Other than that I am pulling for NIN and Depeche Mode.
Soundgarden has been eligible for several years now, and this is their first year of even being nominated. I wouldn't hold your breath.

IT will be a real shame if they don't make it. I've always thought they were the best and most talented band to come out of that Seattle scene.

This is about the time rock started to die off.

Houston had an amazing voice, and obviously sold a ton of records, but she was close to zero on the innovation or influence scale.

This is from their criteria.

Besides demonstrating unquestionable musical excellence and talent, inductees will have had a significant impact on the development, evolution and preservation of rock & roll.

Whoa, can't go with "not having influence". Pretty sure all of today's top female singers (Katy Perry, Beyonce,Adele, etc) would claim Whitney as an influence. She did have the biggest selling female album during their formative years (Bodyguard soundtrack).

Were you alive in the 70s? There was a five year period in the late 70s, where Ted was one of the biggest acts in rock and roll. Headlined festivals, constant AOR airplay, schools filled with Ted Nugent tshirts. Stranglehold alone should get him in the HoF, considering all of the weak ass acts already in who have nothing close to that magnum opus.

Anyone that writes a song called Wang Dang Sweet Poontang is clearly RRHOF worthy.

Looking at the list of who's in I noticed Peter Frampton isn't in. He was way bigger than Ted Nugent and pretty influential with the Framphone.

You can also really see how thin the classes have gotten. 1998 had The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac and Santana. That's not shabby.

Don't know that I spelled it right or that's what it's called I have just always heard it called that. It's the deal he blows in/speaks in to create the electronic sounds of his vocals. My understanding is he was the innovator of it.

I was a small kid in the 70s so, no I wasn't a first hand experiencer of Ted.

Music is all subjective so I won't argue. I've just never thought of Ted as a HOFer. Then again, we could all list a dozen or so that we don't think belong.

If you're referring to the talk box it was around well before Frampton. Nazareth used it on Hair of the Dog and Aerosmith used it on Sweet Emotion before Frampton Comes Alive was released.
