MIB International expected to take in $28.5M for its opening weekend. The previous low opening weekend for the franchise 4 films was $51M.

And Shaft at $8.3M for its opening weekend, wow...

It's been extremely underwhelming.

Literally every movie released is going to lose money

It's going to be catastrophic

Was convinced that FFH was gonna be a juggernaut, but it's not looking that great. Opened to $39M yesterday, which is not particularly impressive. (It's barely ahead of Amazing Spider-Man's opening Tuesday.)

This summer is really weird. One of the biggest blockbusters of all time followed by mostly flops or significant disappointments.

That is great for what it is, a mid-level marvel movie. This will be hugely successful for that. I don't think Marvel is shooting for $500 million+ domestic for each movie. I think now, if each can get between $800 million and $1 billion worldwide, they will be happy with that.

Avengers: Endgame was the victory lap for 10 years of movies. The expectations for the box office for individual movies out of that success should rise a little, maybe, but not by much, imo. So if a movie doesn't do that kind of business moving forward, its not a flop. FFH should make ~$150 million for the 6 day holiday weekend, which is pretty good. And itll have legs (pun intended).

Granted, that was mostly my own overly optimistic predictions rather than the movie under-performing.

But I'm just not all that impressed with the number. Especially considering inflation.

I've never understood the weird relationship between Spiderman movies and opening early during July 4th week/weekend.

The 4th is a Thursday this year, so why not get started on the 4th to give yourself a better opening day number to brag about and still have a long weekend ?

Far From Home, Aladdin, and Toy Story 4 are all on track to hit $1B. (Or come very close.)

Update:

FFH - $1B
Aladdin - $990M
TS4 - $866M
Lion King - $713M

Lion King is on track to do $100M this weekend (domestic) and will undoubtedly cross $1B within the next week.

Aladdin will hit $1B probably within 10 days.

Toy Story 4 is the only one that is still a question mark.

5 days since this post, and both Aladdin and Lion King have passed $1B in that time.

Charlie's Angels absolutely bombs with an $8M opening weekend.

So many flops this year.

If it wasn't for Texags, I wouldn't even know there was a new Charlie's Angels. There has been 0 marketing for it. People aren't going to go see a movie if they don't know it exists.

Marketing has been damn near non-existent, but a friend told me it's not terrible. I'll wait for it to hit streaming though.
