^ Any of those appropriate to watch with your kids?

I'm a huge Gaffigan fan and took my entire family to see him here in Dallas. Did not disappoint.

I agree that comedians who cuss and use crude bits are not that original. The ones that have clean shows are touring the country making millions. There are a lot of families out that that want to enjoy comedy, but there's just too much smut to wade through.
You will enjoy no one on my list.

Brian Regan, Jerry Seinfeld, Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, and Jim Gaffigan are probably more to your tastes.

I feel like some people are kind of forgetting the origins of stand up comedy. It's not the squeaky clean family friendly stuff that is available for mass consumption.

My Girlfriend's Boyfriend is fantastic. He's such a great storyteller. I think he has 2 other sets on Netflix too that are both great also.

The Adam Sandler 100% fresh is surprisingly good. Not kid friendly.

Ryan Hamilton is great!

And Gaffigan has about 5 or 6 specials available on Netflix. Can't get enough of him.

And the Dave Bargatze dude is very funny too.

I can't believe I left Patton Oswalt off my list, he's so great.
And agree about Adam Sandler, it was a very enjoyable set.

If anybody's looking for a short clip from John Mulaney, this might be one of my favorites.

Joe Rogan - triggered (Netflix special)

I love the bit about the White House being broken in to and the "cult" vs religion. Strong language, but I didn't find it distracting.

My wife and I went to the Houston improv to see Nikki Glaser for our anniversary. She was really good, but her opener Andrew Collin was hysterical. Like pee your pants funny.

I don't understand how Ken Jeong continues to get work. He is funny as a "did you know that guy's a real doctor?" novelty, but that's about it.

Watched the first half of his special and loved it. Going to watch second half soon. I love dry/sarcastic humor, and he was great.

Full Time Magic is great too. Not on Netflix though. It's on both Spotify and Apple Music. You can also watch on Comedy Central's website if you have a tv provider login.

I went out to LA for the Sweet 16 loss in 2018. My buddy had to cancel so I was going solo. Because of a family obligation I was only in town for 20 hours. All I packed was a phone charger.

After the game I Ubered to the Comedy Store. While waiting to go in I was on the patio watching basketball. A guy sees my A&M shirt and says "tough loss". We chatted for a bit and I learn that hes a comic. He said to come find him later and he show me around.

I saw a bunch of good acts - Whitney Cummings, Chris Delia, Christina P, Anthony Santino and one of my all time favs - Theo Von. Martin Lawrence was the surprise guest and he bombed. Hard.

Around midnight I left and went looking for the comic I met. I found him smoking a cig on the patio. I told about the acts I liked and confirmed his prior warning that Martin would be terrible. We grabbed a beer and he took me to the side and told the door guy that I with him. I got to go into the green room and the comics back bar. The green room was awesome. Signatures of every funny person you can imagine. Pryor, Robin Williams, Jim Carey, Seinfeld...it was awesome. I ended up hanging out with the comics the rest of the night. Met some really funny people who were excited and happy to talk about comedy and The Store. I got to go up on stage of the OR and have beers late night.

Around 4am I Urbered back to LAX and went home. The comic I was with gave me his number and said if I was ever back to give him a shout. A few months ago I was in LA for work and I hit him up. Hooked me up with great seats for a Rogan show.

Pretty fun day even with the Ags losing

That's an awesome story. I'm dying to visit the Store someday.

I'm a huge stand-up nerd.

I will say that I have tons of favorites and tons of people I like, but the hardest I've ever seen a comedian kill was a tie between Mitch Hedberg, who I saw a couple times but the time I'm thinking of was in Austin at Cap City, around 2003, and Sebastian Maniscalco a couple months ago at the Wynn in Vegas. And speaking of the Store, that's where Sebastian cut his teeth and still plays a lot.

The Sebastian show was so unexpected as far as how great it was. I'm a huge fan of his and I saw him at Cap City a few years ago too. Clubs are usually much more conducive to great crowds that theaters are, but the Sebastian show at the Wynn was just this perfect night. He killed harder than any comedian I've ever seen. I'm not saying the set was even the funniest I've ever seen, but rather that his set that particular night, in front of that particular audience, killed harder than any I've ever seen. It's a theater but it's still small and intimate, and he's just at the absolute peak of his career right now, at the top of his game, and man, it was one of the few times where my face has literally been tired of laughing and I was in pain from laughing so hard for so long, and it felt like the whole room was experiencing that. I'll remember that show forever for that reason.

A little more on the green room at the Store. Its maybe 10x5 with 2 doors on the same wall. When he was giving me the tour he walked in and walked out in about 3 steps - in one door and out the other. I stopped and Im sure my jaw was on floor. I asked if it was cool if I just took it all in. He laughed and I sat for a minute and looked at all the names. I wanted to take pics but I felt like I would be breaking the rules. I wish I had now.

Ive never been to Second City in Chicago but Im told you can feel the energy from Farley or Belushi or any of the greats who have performed there. The back rooms at the Store have the same feeling. Like Pryor or Williams or Chapelle or Rock or any of the all timers are going to come around the corner.

The comics bar was pretty small. Probably held 15-20 people. It was empty by that time but I could only imagine the stories that room could tell. What all time stand up bits were perfected at 2am on a Tuesday in that room?

I forget his name but the last guy up every night is the opener for the Kimmel show. He sits on stage and rips on people in the crowd. At 1:00am theres maybe 30 people left and he is brutal. No one was safe. All the comics sit in the back row and heckle him and everyone else. I was welcomed into their little club and for about an hour it was like being part of something that seemed impossible. We were all laughing so hard and yelling random s*** at everyone.

When they kicked everyone out I stayed behind. We all stood around on the patio and they all went thru their sets - what worked and what didnt. By this time Im pretty drunk and I remember telling one guy "this is like Disneyland for adults" He laughed and said "thats funny but didnt you do a set last week?" I felt like I had officially joined the group at that point.

If you are ever in LA and have a night to kill go to the Store. Hang on the patio and start chatting up people. I learned that at the end of the day those comics love comedy and love The Store. They were all really excited to share it me.

And thats the second most insane night Ive had while on a solo trip to watch the Aggie play in the post season...

Gaffogan's new special is out on Amazon. Pretty good. Standard Gaffigan material. If you like him, you'll like it. A few slightly darker jokes, which I enjoyed.

Watched Ryan Hamilton for the first time last night. Enjoyed it. I watched it because I watched this late night performance, and this was one of the best 5 minute sets I've seen in a long time. It's hard to kill on a talk show but he did:

Just bought tickets to see Gary Gulman in Austin next April.

Speaking of him, and this is pure coincidence that I came across this the day before his tickets went onsale, but I just listened to Pete Holmes' podcast featuring a visit from Gary Gulman, and it was some of the best comedy discussion I've ever heard. I am a huge fan of Gulman and I do like Holmes too, and hearing them discuss comedy, the words used in it, the pacing, the tone, and then hearing them riff off each other, it was really incredible. Turns out those guys basically are me, but with talent. Every single thing they quote is basically Brian Regan, Jim Gaffigan, Mike Birbiglia, and Jerry Seinfled, all four of whom are in my top 5 all time, probably. So I felt like I was listening to my best friends, if my best friends happened to have become talented comedians. Awesome stuff.

Mike Birbiglia's "The New One" is available on Netflix today. Already watched it, and it's amazing as expected. Just like his previous ones. Masterful storytelling with little humorous asides throughout. Probably his best one yet.

New special drops today that I can't wait to watch. This guy, Pat McGann, opens for Sebastian Maniscalco. When I saw Sebastian in Vegas last year, I was blown away by McGann. Best opener I've ever seen. He now has his own special.

I'll be checking it out tonight too, hopefully its better than his last Netflix special..

I also watched the Patrice O'Neal documentary on the Comedy Central app over the weekend. It was pretty good, for those of you who are interested in that sort of thing.

Seinfeld performs a lot at winstar. Do yourself a favor and go catch it. That way, you can tell your grandkids you saw the goat.

I hope he brings a live goat on stage, because no one should consider him the GOAT.

I know comedy is subjective but:

Richard Pryor
Bill Cosby
Eddie Murphy
Bob Newhart
Bill Burr
Dave Attell
Patrice O'Neal
Jim Gaffigan
Brian Regan
Ricky Gervais
Louis CK
Dave Chapelle
Dave Attell
George Carlin

Just to name a few are funnier.
