Here's a couple of my reviews in whatever order I thought of them or recently watched them (all of these are on Netflix). And it's sad that I feel the need to say this sentence, but remember that comedy is subjective.
Ricky Gervais, Humanity - Easily my favorite set on Netflix. Absolute brilliance. Gervais is one of the funniest and most productive comedians out there, including his tv shows (Office, Extras, etc).
Ellen Degeneres, Relatable - Another fantastic one to watch. Her set is tightly interwoven from start to end, including the setup/punchlines that she does so well with a little bit of what her audience wants to see (e.g., her dancing). Do yourself a favor and watch her interview with Letterman (on Netflix) and listen to her interview with Conan (podcast) first to appreciate the set even more.
Katherine Ryan, Glitter Room - Ok but not amazing. Few good laughs, but nothing to write home about. I'l give her credit for audience interaction though.
Mike Epps, Only One Mike - Skip it. This is my first time to see him perform so maybe I'm not used to his act. I felt like I was watching a guy brag about himself for an hour.
Adam Devine, Best Time of Our Lives - Skip this one too. Was he high while performing or did he just forget to rehearse? Or both.
Comedians of the World series - There are a few in here that are enjoyable. The entire series is really hard to get through though. For me it's the language and cultural barrier. I just finished Brazil and I guess I just can't relate to comedy about people in the 'hood in Brazil. I enjoyed Ivan Decker, if you just want a short set of somebody new.
Jo Koy, Live from Seattle and Comin' in Hot - The first five minutes of Live from Seattle are absolutely hilarious. Overall, very good acts.
Ken Jeong, You Complete Me, Ho - I thought this one was pretty meh. Lots of story-telling about the Hangover and other projects, a couple jokes, but not what I hoped for.
Wanda Sykes, Not Normal - Lots of poking fun at Trump as one would predict, but overall better than I expected. I just had a really low bar going into this one, maybe.
Dave Chapelle, (couple specials) - These are great. Absolutely great, and offer some interesting backstory to everything that went down with him at Comedy Central.
Kevin Hart, (lots of specials) - If you enjoy Kevin Hart, you'll like these. He's one of the hardest working guys in stand-up comedy. I felt his newest one, Irresponsible, was actually his weakest.
Anthony Jeselnik, Thoughts & Prayers and Fire in the Maternity Ward - If you are ok with humor that will make you cringe, check him out. I really appreciate his delivery. You think he's going to go with the obvious punchline and then he takes one from out of left field.
Nate Bargatze, The Tennessee Kid - I don't remember much about this one, but I do remember that you should watch his set on The Standups first because he does a few callbacks to those jokes.
Hannah Gadsby, Nanette - This is extremely difficult to compare to anything else because it is so different. I cannot emphasize enough that before watching this, you should listen to her interview with Conan O'Brien on his podcast (Conan Needs a Friend) because it will give you such a different perspective to the show. Just be aware before you watch this one that it isn't your "traditional" stand-up comedy and you'll probably either love it or hate it.
Jimmy Carr, The Best of Ultimate Gold Greatest Hits - I really like Jimmy Carr. I watch The Big Fat Quiz of the Year every year (once it hits YouTube) and he does some great stand-up. This special was funny but it really is a greatest hits so be prepared that it won't have much flow.
Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias, (lots of specials) - Similar review to Kevin Hart. If you're a fan, you'll like it. There's just so many now.
Brian Regan, Nunchuks & Flamethrowers - If you like Brian Regan (I'm a huge fan) then you'll enjoy this set. It's just not his best ever. His first album (Live) is his best, in my opinion.
Tig Notaro, Happy to Be Here - Yes, all things yes. Tig is a brilliant comedian. Her album (Live, pronounced with the soft i) is, I would argue, one of the most amazing stand-up sets ever. She performed that set right after she was diagnosed with cancer. She will drag you along with some of her routines, Andy Kaufman-style. Her deadpan humor isn't for everybody though.
