I'm kinda surprised some studio doesn't try to go the super hero route and make a Cesar movie, Antony movie, Pompey, young Cleopatra, etc.

And then a final epic combing all of the stories.

Please no. The first three are arguably my favorite "trilogy" but the last one was a giant bag of ass.

I felt like the Bourne movies got progressively worse as they came out. The first one is great, second is decent, third was dumb.

Second was still very good, Karl Urban was an awesome villain in Supremacy. Third was still really good, fourth was kinda forgettable.

There is certainly a stark contrast with Paul Greengrass' direction, but Supremacy and Ultimatum definitely hold up. Ultimatum is so damn good.

Anyone but You is apparently trying to answer the question

"Can a slightly more adult Hallmark movie succeed at the Box Office?"

Isn't this just a retread of the movie Alive?

I love the original story and book and even the movie Alive, and yes and it almost looks like a scene for scene remake. Alive still holds up, IMO, so I'm not sure the point in retelling the same story with identical scenes and the same viewpoint/angle.

So this is the exact same event? And if so, was Alive an English adaptation of a Spanish incident, or is this a Spanish adaption of an English-speaking incident?

The first. They were Uruguayan.

Yeah, Alive used a weird combination of multiethnic actors to portray Uraguayan people (mostly Anglo actors who had hispanic names but didn't even try to fake a spanish accent) but they overall did a good job and the only difference I see in this trailer is the actors speaking spanish rather than english. The depictions of the events look almost identical to scenes in Alive.

Yep, looks the exact same. Have seen a fair amount of Alive, can't recall if I watched it ever from start to finish.

I haven't seen Alive since it came out, but if I recall correctly it depicted women on board as well, right? I just feel like I remember there being at least a couple female cast members among the survivors. And for the most part it was just a random assortment of passengers, yes? Or am I completely misremembering? Whereas this iteration looks to be an all-male cast that's part of a soccer team, which would be a big differentiating factor. Especially in the way they use flashbacks and seem to tie their teamwork/training into their will/efforts to survive.

Regardless, I've heard this iteration is great, and people keep mentioning Michael Giacchino's score, in particular, as a standout.

The original was the soccer team as well. There were a couple females but they were part of the team somehow (relatives or back office or something).

Some of those shots look like they are literally from the original movie. The only difference is the Spanish and some flashbacks that the original didn't have.
