Yeah, it's a little too vague, but the hook is pretty gnarly. Here's the logline:

"The commandant of Auschwitz, Rudolf Hoss, and his wife Hedwig, strive to build a dream life for their family in a house and garden next to the camp."

It's getting a ton of buzz and some phenomenal reviews so far.

Both Glazer and Haynes are far too talented to be as under appreciated (or unknown) by the lay public as they are. It's simply because of the decline in movies' cultural capital; they would've been at least as appreciated as guys like De Palma, Schrader, Malick etc. had they been born earlier. Go through their filmographies, and you won't regret it.

Same. Costner is betting big on these. Financed $20M of them himself, wrote, directed, produced, and stars in both. So hopefully all that skin in the game = something memorable/awesome. If anything, it's a unique strategy, and should make for a fun summer event (or events, rather).

Do you know of anything ever released back to back like this before? I like the concept. Hell can you imagine watching Dune then being fired up to see Dune 2 six weeks later.

The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions released in May and October of 2003, respectively. And then Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima released in October and December of 2006, respectively. But nothing I can think of since has tried to replicate that strategy, for whatever reason.
