One thing that can be surpassed at home, closed captioning. I loved going to the movie theater but as I get older I have trouble hearing all the dialogue. It sucks but I really don't go anymore because of the sound mixing makes it hard.

Is your seating up against a wall? Most people struggle with dialogue due to echo. A plush rug and sound absorption panels behind your head help tremendously.
