I don't know what I just watched, but I'm intrigued.

Gerwig has definitely made interesting choices since becoming a hot new director. Remaking Little Women and now this? I have faith her and Baumbach will at minimum produce something interesting.

I love the direction this movie appears to have gone... I also love Margot Robbie.

LMAO with the 2001 space odyssey bit was not what I was expecting.

Getting a glimmer of hope here that this may be something worth seeing.

I feel like when Robbie lowers her glasses and smiles she just looks sinister like Harley Quinn, not like all American Barbie.

Trailers up.

Looks mushy but good to me. All the actors are great. Looks like a solid rental to me.

This looks incredible!
Florence Pugh is becoming a big-time force.

Zach Braff mentioned the film one time on the Scrubs podcast and admitted he was incredibly in awe of Morgan Freeman and terrified to give him notes until one day MF told him "stop being a ***** and direct me."

Great trailer!

I got to go to White Sands and ground zero back in eighth grade. Amazing experience.

Four short years ago, Lee Isaac Chung accepted a university teaching gig, with plans to move home and give up on filmmaking for good. On a whim, he decided to write one last screenplay/give his film career one last shot before starting his teaching job the following fall. That script - Minari - ended up being produced Brad Pitt, was directed by Chung, and went on to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars in 2021. Now, he's directing the legacy sequel to one of the most beloved blockbusters of the '90s.

Is it just me or is Hollywood oversaturating the market with Timothee Chalamet? Dude needs to just chill out and say "No" to a project every now and then.

He was in one movie in 2022? (Bones and All)

Doesn't feel like oversaturation to me.

The ones who feel oversaturated to me are Florence Pugh and Anya Taylor Joy. (Even though both are great.)

I mean, he was only in one movie this year. Yes, he was in three last year, but two of those were bit parts, basically. So he starred in one movie in 2021, one movie in 2022, and will star in two movies in 2023. Which doesn't seem like over-saturation to me at all.

It's just because he looks like a Jonas Brother so every time they appear on something it feels like an extra Timothee Chalamet appearance.

Eh, oversaturation at a young age probably isn't a terrible thing. It's an industry that your next project could always be your last. Get while the gettin' is good.

You know, you guys are right, which makes this feeling I have that he's in a ton of stuff even weirder to explain

And yeah Joy and Pugh are in a LOT of stuff, too. But for some reason I don't mind that at all.

From Matt Belloni's latest newsletter...

Quote:

Per agency sources, a few big-get roles up for grabs in 2023:

  • Ridley Scott is looking for the key actors in Gladiator 2.
  • If Disney figures out its Pirates of the Caribbean situation, those roles will be hot.
  • Same with Paramount and the Bee Gees movie. Hustlers' Lorene Scafaria just stepped in as director, and she's seeking Gibb brothers that don't play like the SNL sketch.
  • Agents are salivating over Marvel's Fantastic Four, which is complicated by all the multiverse stuff. And the ongoing DC reset should bring big opportunities for new men in tights, especially someone to replace Henry Cavill as Superman.
  • And, obviously, the granddaddy of casting coups: James Bond. The Aaron Taylor-Johnson rumors are true - he sat with producer Barbara Broccoli, and the meeting went well, per sources. But while Taylor-Johnson fits the bill - great actor, British, fits the younger direction the Broccolis want to go, accomplished but not particularly famous - he's about to be a much bigger star. If Sony's Spider-Man spinoff Kraven the Hunter or Universal's Ryan Gosling two-hander The Fall Guy works, Taylor-Johnson might end up, ironically, too famous to take on Bond.

Love to see Taylor-Johnson in the role, that guy has come a long way since Kickass. And I just can't see Kraven working as a non Spidey centric movie but I guess we'll see?

Aaron Taylor-Johnson does nothing for me and I would hate for him to get Bond.

I hope he proves me wrong, but man, what a milquetoast actor and choice.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been great in everything I've seen him in. I think he'd kill the Bond role.

Looks to be a follow-up but does not include Bruce Campbell's Ash Williams in this time line.

Looks like some of the originals are involved though. Bruce Campbell is a executive producer alongside Sam Raimi and Robert G. Tapert.
