EXCLUSIVE: After notching, what I hear, is the best test scores in MGM history, Ron Howard's Thai cave rescue movie Thirteen Lives is moving from Easter weekend this year, April 15-17 to Friday, Nov. 18 into the aorta of awards season.

The movie, scripted by 2x Oscar nominated screenwriter William Nicholson, is the type of movie that needs a lot of buzz, and I hear the studio will be screening it plenty come the fall. Thirteen Lives earned a 97 in the top two boxes and an 86 definite recommend. MGM and UAR showed off footage from Thirteen Lives at CinemaCon last August.

Thirteen Lives' logline: A rescue mission is assembled in Thailand where a group of young boys and their soccer coach are trapped in a system of underground caves that are flooding. Colin Farrell, Viggo Mortensen, and Joel Edgerton star. Pic is produced by William M. Connor, Brian Grazer, Karen Lunder, Gabrielle Tana and P.J. van Sandwijk.

Man, what a cast. I had no idea this movie even existed. Thought there was only the recent doc.

Literally looked it up this past weekend after watching The Rescue and saw that cast. Got instantly excited. Looking forward to it.

Viggo is damn near an automatic watch for me.

Ehhhh, I'm up for a good horror movie, but not sure about this one. They clearly watched the 2018 Halloween movie and thought, "Hey let's do that with Leatherface!". But its free on Netflix, so I'll likely check it out.

Although I did like the group on the bus whipping out their phones and threatening to "cancel" Leatherface like they're all tough and protected by social media.....and then he just lays into them with his chainsaw, lol.

Not a fan of all the breaking of the fourth wall - it often comes across as cheap and/or greenscreen-ish - but this is otherwise a cool first look at a ton of Netflix's 2022 slate, including some pretty big titles...

Also, on a more technical note, yet another studio officially releasing yet another trailer in 4K on YouTube. I haven't seen a single studio do that before this year, but hopefully it becomes the standard before too long.

In the first movie they learn that some of the dinos are homeothermic. So it has been addressed to a degree.

Haven't heard anything. Honestly, I don't even know if Netflix movies that don't release theatrically even receive a rating.

Looks pretty good, though. Great cast and a fun concept.
