Gonna be interesting to see how West Side Story moves forward with the Ansel Elgort situation. (Accused of assaulting a 17 year old.)

I saw a random tweet earlier today saying they should recast Elgort's role in West Side Story. I've never seen the original, and honestly just assumed the tweet had something to do with race, since I at least know that was an issue with the casting of the original. But then I saw just your post, looked up the news, and holy sh*t. If any of that is remotely true - as there's also an accusation of him using a racial slur in a completely separate incident - I honestly don't see how they release the movie. Or maybe they do and all proceeds go to some kind of charity or something? Either way, seeing the various other Instagram screenshots of DMs with him that are now coming to light, the dude seems shady as hell at best. What a clusterf/ck.

You think recasting is even feasible at this point? Like in that Spacey movie.

I mean, they'd probably have to reshoot like 75% of the movie, at least. Spacey obviously wasn't the lead, so that was a little easier, relatively speaking. But Elgort has to be in the vast majority of the movie, I imagine. Also, I know the female lead was literally just out of high school. They made a big deal about how she was cast while still in school, she graduated in May, and was filming like a week later in June. So by the time they get around to reshoots, she could be nearly two years older, and at that age, could potentially look noticeably older. So they'd potentially even have to reshoot the entire thing, which seems insane. I don't know, maybe there's a way to release it, give a percentage of proceeds to charity or something, and then just not have Elgort do any press, and be fine. I really don't know. This is such a unique situation.

Why do poster designers have such a difficult time putting the actors names in order of their appearance on the poster?

The order of the names in the opening credits, trailers, and posters are all negotiated and contractural. The poster designers have no say. That said, there are certainly instances where it seems like the designers could have better placed the subjects to correspond to the billing order, but I also understand how that can be difficult as well at times.

It's always bugged me no matter the reason.

With Bill & Ted Face the Music currently set for August 14th, I'm betting it moves as well now, if only to avoid the competition. Same goes for Mulan on July 24th, which will almost assuredly move too, but only because Disney doesn't want to be that far ahead of everyone else.

And here we go. Moves from July 24th, so July is now basically done. Hopefully August sticks...
