As the debut of The Social Reckoning approaches, i figured its time once again to tell the story of how The Social Network came to be. A lot of people seem to have forgotten that it actually began as a book :):) - thread ahead

I hated this movie, which was really disappointing.

Some of that is The Social Network is my favorite movie of all time, so there were unrealistic expectations for this one. Some of that was being a Sorkin fanboy, that script was funny snarky, the acting was excellent, Fincher is obviously a legend, the soundtrack was fantastic, and Zuckerberg was a year older than me, so it was depicting stuff I was living in college.

This second one was still Sorkin snarky, but not funny snarky at all, just way too much boring legal procedure than fun college years and just not entertaining. Jeremy Strong was a fine replacement for Eisenberg as Zuck, but that was more goodwill from Succession than anything, otherwise I don't think I'd have thought a single thing about him. Just boring, and having Fincher back couldn't have saved it.

I didn't read a single review going in, so unrealistic expectations going in based on my feelings from the first one. I'd skip it in the theatre.

I enjoyed the social reckoning thoroughly. Kept me entertained throughout.

And you said no idea why or how.

Well, I was entertained the entire movie which is a sign it's a well done movie. Lip was awesome. The girl from Anora was really good. Zuck was the weak link in this one. I'm not sure what else to add. Good stuff.

This was the extremely rare setting of the movie being way better than the book. The book read like the guy had just gone on Wikipedia a lot.
