Just finished Catcher in the Rye. I'd give it a C. Glad I didn't have to read that back in high school.

Decided to break between Stormlight and Elantris with Phillip K. D's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep / Blade Runner.

I think before starting back into Sanderson I may read a Chernobyl history. Which one is the best?

The Reporter Who Knew Too Much: The Mysterious Death of What's My Line TV Star and Media Icon Dorothy Kilgallen by Mark Shaw

On November 8, 1965, millions of fans of What's My Line? CBS television star, Pulitzer Prize-nominated columnist and crack investigative reporter Dorothy Kilgallen were shocked when she was found dead in her NYC townhouse. The autopsy report concluded she accidentally died of an "Acute Ethanol and Barbiturate Intoxication: Circumstances Undetermined."

Despite an apparently staged death scene, no police investigation followed even though friends believed the courageous media icon was murdered. Afraid to speak out, they remained silent about Kilgallen, a gifted wordsmith who broke the "glass ceiling" by succeeding in a man's world.

In The Reporter Who Knew Too Much, fresh evidence including explosive never-before-seen videotaped interviews provides motives to help identify who may have silenced her, and why. Suspects include arch-enemy Frank Sinatra, those threatened by her 18-month JFK assassination investigation, and a "mystery man" connected to the Mafia who might have betrayed Kilgallen.

A true Renaissance woman, Kilgallen was known as "The Most Powerful Voice In America." She once wrote, "Justice is a big rug; when you pull it out from under one man, a lot of others fall too." But, as author Mark Shaw reveals in this true crime, "whodunit" mystery, Kilgallen was denied justice. Until now.

The Wednesday Letters by Jason Wright

Jack and Laurel have been married for 39 years. They've lived a good life and appear to have had the perfect marriage. With his wife cradled in his arms, and before Jack takes his last breath, he scribbles his last "Wednesday Letter." When their adult children arrive to arrange the funeral, they discover boxes and boxes full of love letters that their father wrote to their mother each week on Wednesday. As they begin to open and read the letters, the children uncover the shocking truth about the past. In addition, each one must deal with the present-day challenges. Matthew has a troubled marriage, Samantha is a single mother, and Malcolm is the black sheep of the family who has returned home after a mysterious two-year absence. The Wednesday Letters has a powerful message about forgiveness and quietly beckons for readers to start writing their own "Wednesday Letters."

Dumplin by Julie Murphy 8/10

Murphy's husband is an Ag and posted about their experience making the movie. I enjoyed the book, but Murphy had the main character and her mother calling themselves Southern. The book is set somewhere near Odessa. No one out there would call themselves Southern. Didn't ruin the book for me but was a constant annoyance.

I got many hours into it on Audible, and somehow the app messed up causing me to suddenly be way off on my place in the book. I want to finish it, but for some reason I just never took the time to find where I was.

They are not all related. one second after, one year after, and the final day are a trilogy (aftermath of an emp), but the others are standalone novels. pillar to sky is about building a space elevator, 48 hours is about an impending solar flare

I just blew through all 19 books in the Joe Pickett Series by CJ Box. Not very deep intellectually, but a good, leisurely, fun read. Wonderful descriptions of Wyoming, and the Rockies.

Any recommendations on Military Sci-Fi? I also have a soft spot for James Rollins and his Sigma Force series so outlandish adventure novels also interest me.

Here's what I've finished so far in 2019

Blue Light: Star Carrier 8
Tiamats Wrath
The Honor of the Queen: Honor Harrington book 2
The Short Victorious War: Honor Harrington book 3
Europa Strike: Heritage Series book 3
Ancillary Justice
The Consuming Fire
The Demon Crown

Next in the hopper: Field of Dishonor, Lines of Departure (Frontline Series), Star Corps (Legacy Trilogy), Skyward and Mistborn: Final Empire.
