Howdy! I am looking for book series' that are similar to Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan universe. So far I have started the Scot Harvath series by Brad Thor. Does anyone have any other recommendations for books like what Clancy does? Prefer Kindle versions since I don't want a lot of paperbacks. Any info is greatlyappreciated!

Larry Bond's Jerry Mitchell series.

(Remember he co-wrote RSR with Clancy)

Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp series is really good. Flynn passed a few years ago but had another author still producing with no drop off in quality.

Also Ben Coes' Dewey Andreas series is good

Jack Carr , retired SEAL also wrote one but can't remember the title. Great revenge story though

All his stories about Dirk Pitt are great, although it's been about a decade since he was the main person writing them.

Jonathan Grave series by John Gilstrap is really good.
The Executioner series is old but good.

I also like Harlen Coben's Myron Bolitar series.

Lee Child has a series of books. Highly recommend.

If you like fictional books set in historical time periods, try the Kingsbridge Trilogy and the Century Trilogy.

DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIES. THEY ARE TERRIBLE.

Stephen Coonts "Flight of the Intruder" is a really good look at carrier life for a Naval Aviator. Yes the movie was terrible, but the books is fantastic.

Most of the follow on books are pretty well done but the character goes stale by book 3 or 4.

This. Not a fan of his coauthored stuff.

Daniel Silva - Gabriel Allon is a Mossad agent with a similar arc to Jack Ryan except it is set in Israel vs. US. All books are excellent and all are on Kindle.

So I got this series. Started really slow but has gotten better as I go. Reading Shattered Trident now. Definitely good series!

Not a fan of Dirk Pitt. He simply gets away with too much - even more than Bond. I like JR because he's pretty much an ordinary dude.

Regarding Cussler, I'm a big fan of the Oregon series.

Some of the others, I've never got into.

The Isaac Bell series is pretty bad. I have up after 2 books.

Although they aren't really like Clancy, I love Clancy and also like the Jack Reacher books. If Clancy novels are movies, the Reacher books are like network tv episodes.

Ive tried to find a starting point for Jack Reacher but no luck. What are the first three or four books called?

Alex Berenson's John Wells series: http://www.alexberenson.com/books/

John Wells is a CIA operative that was able to infiltrate Al Qaeda. The books are mostly about Middle East influence, but he does have episodes in China and Russia.

I've read three or four Dirk Pitt novels. I just don't really like Cussler's writing style and I feel like if you've read one you've read them all.

You don't really need to reach any Reacher books in any particular order. There is occassionally a throwaway line about the woman he was sleeping with in the previous book or the location he's travelling from, but otherwise, they all pretty much standalone. I've read 7 or 8 now, with absolutely no idea where in the chronology each is, and haven't been impacted in the slightest.

Out of all the authors listed so far Daniel Silva is one of my favorites. Also makes you want to read a lot of history.

If you are looking for something a bit older/historical spy thriller I would look at Jack Higgins. He has a ton of books and characters. Probably the most well known is The Eagle has Landed.

And I also just started the Corps Justice series by CG Cooper and it seems pretty good.

I have read several Cussler's I borrowed from my Dad. Most of them are okay. The Issac Bell series has been fairly good compared to the rest, and Dirk Pitt just annoys me in general.

Another recommendation is an author Matthew Betley who has written 3 books. His 'hero' ,Logan West, former Marine, is contracted to assist FBI find and terminate shadowy operatives at whatever the cost. Stories are solid, well researched and if you like Jack Ryan, Mitch Rapp, Gabriel Allon, Dirk Pitt et al then buy/read at your pleasure. Bonus, his kindle books are priced sub $6.00.

If you like that old school Cold War stuff there's some older books by a guy named Martin Cruz Smith.

And put me in the Cussler books are derivative camp.
