Is the Joe Rogan podcast about MMA and other bro stuff or is actually good?

Rogan is all over the map - start with Jesse Ventura about Chris Kyle.

Rogan is a trailblazer of podcast monitazing, like Corrola.

Rogan does plenty of MMA related podcasts, but he typically labels those differently and it's pretty easy to tell in the description what the subject matter is.

He has on other comedians and actors, guys that talk about hunting and conservation, political commentators, technical experts. Joe is very good at having an intelligent discussion about a huge range of topics. And he's good at just BS'ing with his friends and talking about current events topics.

Crimetown is good. Season 1 is about organized crime and corrupt government officials in New England (mostly Providence, RI) during 60's through 90's.

I won't ever miss a Rogan when Joey Diaz is on. Hilarious.

99% Invisible - Find most of the shows interesting enough where I google the topic afterward to learn more
RadioLab - Good documentary podcast. Less preachy and more consistent than This American Life.
More Perfect - Interesting Supreme Court podcast from RadioLab, though not digging the music theme this season.
This American Life - It's love or hate with the episodes. And I can never tell beforehand based on the episode summary.
Stuff You Should Know - my go-to if I want to listen to something without needing to really pay attention. Or if I have kids in the car. Over a 1000 episodes, so it's also the fallback if waiting for other podcasts to release something.
Movie Crush - movie podcast from SYSK's Chuck Bryant. Interviews C/D list celebrities or other podcasters on a particular movie. I like Chuck Bryant...easy to listen to and we seem to have the same taste and sense of humor.
Unspooled - Pretty good movie podcast on AFI 100
How Did this Get Made? - Hilarious if you know the movie, but I don't 75% of the time.
30 for 30 - It's 30 for 30 in podcast form
Serial - Loved both the first two seasons, saving S3 for I don't know what...maybe my next marathon.
Criminal - Usually interesting, and good if I need a short-running episode as they're usually under 30 min.
In The Dark - Interesting cases even though the host/producer is kind of annoying.
Reply All - Usually enjoy...negative marks for their very inconsistent schedule and one of the host's annoying laugh.

I run 12-15 hours a week and commute 90 min a day...so I pretty much keep up.

If you're into SYSK and Movie Crush, try Josh's new podcast, "the end of the world." I don't know what I was expecting, but it was great.

Funny you bring it up because I just listened to the first one on the way to work today. Had forgotten about it but they put it on SYSK's feed. I liked it, will definitely check the rest out.

Hunting, nutrition, psychology, politics (tangentially), endurance athletes, psychadelics, comedy. Basically if it deals with mind or body he talks to people about it.

I actually didn't even list all the podcasts I could have. Do people really not listen like they should?

I love SYSK, but was underwhelmed by the first End of the World episode. It seemed that he failed to ask some really obvious questions. Maybe the next will be more intriguing.

MbMbM and The Adventure Zone from the McElroy brother's. If you haven't listened to TAZ yet, do yourself a huge favor and start now. One of my favorite works of fiction ever.

In The Dark. Season 2 was remarkable
Serial
Radiolab
Cocaine and Rhinestones. If you love country music you'll love this one. David Allen Coe's son tells really cool stories about individual songs/artists
Ringer podcasts are great
This American Life. There are some truly brilliant episodes, and some snoozefests.

Which episode does little Coe talk about all of his daddy's racist songs featuring the N word?

Haven't seen The Incomparable mentioned yet, which is tailor-made for the Entertainment forum. They cover everything - books, movies. TV, music, games, even beer tastings and Thanksgiving meal drafts. Some of the most fun episodes are the Star Trek drafts.
http://www.theincomparable.com

They released a 50 year lookback at the original Planet of the Apes this past weekend if you want a good sample to try out.

Here's a "draft" episode - the best and worst Star Trek episodes and characters across all series. (This is from 2014, before Discovery, FYI) Lots of fun, highly recommended.

"Groundhog Day" episode:

Hell, here's the topic list with show links. Whatever you're interested in, they've probably talked about it.

I know this is an old comment, but what's he done to be innovative on the monitization end? I figured the youtube side of things is demonitized based what he does/says on the show.

I've been listening to Conan O'Brien needs a Friend and for the most part have been enjoying it. It's like an extended interview from his show but with no boundaries and talking about actual things instead of just promoting a movie/book/show/etc.

He spoke about Spotify wanting to add him to their platform. They didn't want to pay what he thought was fair and Joe Rogan's Podcast is not on Spotify. Don't think he would put it on YouTube if he wasn't making money off it.
