It's the sort of accent I imagine carpet baggers post Reconstruction used to talk to southern people whom they thought were dumb and couldn't understand a dignified northern accent. Purposefully loud, very slow and really condescending. Like when you have somebody trying to speak a foreign language to native speakers and they think talking loudly and slowly heap it to be understood more.

Re-watching the show with the significant other and I was trying to kind of prepare her for the letdown after the magnificent Bennett-clan season, but I had forgotten just how solid the next season was. Just great dialogue from all different walks of life (Limehouse, Quarles... Duffy shifting from a guy near the top of the totem pole to a guy just trying to cut out his own piece of the pie)... and probably the best season finale of the series -- even better than the Bennett finale IMO.

But alas... now comes the Rappaport season. I'm trying to remember if there's anything redeeming about this season at all outside of Dewey Crowe.

limehouse has to be the worst character in the show. when you see the actor on something else and realize he doesnt have jacked up teeth and doesnt mumble like a fool you realize how idiotic the show chose to make the limehouse character.

Boyd Crowder is the best villian of all time. Just finished the series for 3rd or 4th time. Very few shows can compete with the dialogue here.

I knew the show wouldn't end that way but by the end, Rayland just seemed like such a dick. That aside, the "dug coal together" line was pretty great.

Just started watching the first season, seems like Matlock with a lot more shooting.

Glad to hear it, I couldn't understand why it was so highly rated on IMBD.

Show is basically a ripoff of all the 80's detective shows so far.

FYI - in Fargo season 4, Timothy Olyphant is playing a US Marshall who is reminiscent of Raylan Givens.

Dialogue/acting-wise the only weak spots in entire series run were Daryl Crowe Jr and Ava (who was actually decent in first few seasons). Limehouse was over-the-top cliche, but I could still buy it as backwoods Kentucky holler character.

As far as the marshal service goes, even Rachel was nails in her lines and delivery.

With all the shout-outs the show had to The Ticket crew, i have to think it was a situation where Rappaport approahed the Justified crew and asked to be on the show rather than him actually being sought out.

He painfully bad in the role.

Limehouse was terrible. Fake prosthetic teeth, just really bad.
Rappaport was pretty bad.
The main Dixie mafia dude was pretty bad.
Olyphant, Goggins, Margo whatever, and the little girl were all fantastic casting. The 4 or 5 other marshalls were all pretty good.
Raylans ex and the Crowder chick were both hot but terribly written and you knew any scene either of them were in was going to suck.

The villains were mostly perfect hits: Mags, Boyd, Wynn and Quarles were incredible.

I was surprised to see the best friend from Eurotrip in the show as the younger Marshal in the office. He was actually great in the role, I see he has been in Sneaky Pete the last couple years. I expect him to keep getting bigger roles

I don't' have much of a discriminating eye when it comes to stuff like this but I thought even the "worst" of characters were still plausible except for Rappaport. That was just bad casting but if you look at the entirety of the show, they had a fantastic hit rate. Limehouse wasn't great but he was good enough to not ruin the show.

I especially loved it when they started sneaking in references to personalities from The Ticket.

I'm also grateful that they just ended the show instead of trying to continue making money off of it. That takes guts in my opinion.

Finished it last night. Sure gonna miss it.

Been so long. I only went through the series once, when it was airing. Love the show and the characters.

You still catch new things the second and third time through btw.
