Not that I necessarily want it remade, but I was watching the Wizard of Oz the other day and wondered what it would look like if done today. I'm sure it would start in color 1080p, then when Dorothy opens the door, revealing Munchkinland, it turns to 4K HDR.
I think most people wouldn't notice the difference.

They should remake classic B movie sci-fi titles with modern FX and CGI.

Them!
It Came From Outer Space
The Man with the X-Ray Eyes
Plan 9 From Outer Space
Etc.

Just avoid the precedent of terrible remakes...
Neo's The Day the Earth Stood Still
The Shape Of Water = Creature from the Black Lagoon

And while not a movie, I'd like to see some Twilight Zone episodes with modern FX wizardry. Keep the black and white aesthetics, have a new Rod Serling for the intros (or CGI him like Tarkin), and then go wild, baby.

Nightmare at 20,000 Feet
The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street
To Serve Man
The Invaders
Time Enough at Last

Can someone please do a gritty R rated remake of "Mortal Kombat"?
Did you ever check out this short plus the short youtube series from it?

I think it'd be cool to see Flight of the Navigator and Lord of the Flies remakes.
FWIW Lord of the Flies won't happen for a long time. I tried to get the rights to develop a new adaptation of the play several years ago and his estate said he was happy with the existing adaptations that were made before he died (play and film) and as such they would not allow/sign off on anything new. Then they threatened to sue me, which was a nice touch.

I was just considering this. I enjoyed the trilogy the came from the book and Peter Jackson's nether-regions, but I'd really rather see a single movie (that can be 3 hours long if they choose) sourced directly from the book with none of the additions that Jackson thought necessary.

Dune.

Modern special effects could make the movie they couldn't make the first time. Could be epic.
You're in luck.

The Dark Tower

I didn't find a thread on this. I watched it a few weeks ago even though I knew it was going to be awful. The only thing they got right was Roland's speed with his guns...

If I were doing it, this would be the order:

IV: Wizard and Glass (combined with a little of book 1, tells of how the search for the Tower started)
II: The Drawing of the Three
III: The Waste Lands
V: Wolves of the Calla
VII: The Dark Tower

I'd skip these:
I: The Gunslinger
VI: Song of Susannah

Hardbodies, Hot Dog: The Movie, Porky's, Losin' It, Private School or any of the other gratuitous 80's T&A movies with modern hotties.

There's still talk of a cable series on Roland's young days which would probably be the Wizard & Glass era.

Arsenic and Old Lace

The plot of this dark comedy is freaking hilarious and timeless. It would score very well still today...even with younger unsophisticated audiences, but the early 1940s cinematogrophy, speech patterns, directing, music, and overall style do not.

Slight tangent from the question at hand, but they have not made a really good Clive Cussler movie. Sahara was entertaining, but a legal debacle. And I think they made a crappy Raise the Titanic years ago.

So, remake Sahara.

And maybe make:

Mediterranean Caper
Pacific Vortex
Shock Wave
Valhalla Rising

---

Other's I'd like to see remade:

Independence Day 2

Flight of the Intruder

Animal Farm (a la Favreau's Jungle Book)

Flight of the Navigator

How have they not remade Brewster's Millions yet? Danny McBride as Monty Brewster and Craig Robinson as Spike. It'd be like taking the kenny powers/reg mackworthy thing to the next level

Almost forgot, I'd like them to remake Avenging Force.

I always loved the last fight scene in the room of antique weaponry.

As I understand, the studio didn' give Cussler authority for final approval of the script. He sued, then lost. Debacle may not be the right term. But I like Cussler's stories and wish it would have been closer to the book. (And I hate it when people say that.)

Or 'Band of Brothers' type film from the German perspective, similar to what Eastwood did with 'Letters from Iwo Jima' and 'Flags of our Fathers'.

There's a German version called "Unsere Muetters and Vaeters" (also known as Generation War) that is very good that is a German style Band of Brothers. It hits on a lot of heavy topics, but, it did have a little controversy in that it skimmed over some of the realities of the time. It came out in 2013 and may still be streamable on Amazon.

Seen it, just disappointed it was only three parts. I liked it though.

I'd like one about a division and/or specific group that was on the French coast, or inland that experienced the invasion, and then follow that group from there.
