Post Malone looks like how I imagine Shia Labeouf will look like once Celebrity Boxing finally comes for him.

It seems off but I don't think its necessarily wrong. We are in uncharted waters in the streaming era and Billboard has been trying to reflect that and has spent the last couple of years tweaking its algorithm to do so. Up to this point when an album was sold we had no data for how people listened to it. Maybe they listened to one single from it on repeat? or the whole thing? or some non-single track? Well now we can actually know and it should show up in the billboard charts. This has been happening the last year, J Cole had like half his album on the hot 100 a couple of weeks ago, Ed Sheeran and Eminem also both had multiple songs on the chart when their last album came out as well. We will probably see something like this going forward with big album releases.

The Billboard Hot 100 has always been a weird list, it is suppose to reflect both what is hot on radio and sales. Well sales don't really exist any more, so it is using streaming now so we are getting some odd results. There is a chart of just radio play.

I like the way streaming is used for Billboard charts. I feel it more accurately represents what people are listening to. I do have beef with they equate album sales to streams. It doesn't make sense.

The funny thing is post malone is doing it with a decentralized media while the Beatles did it while radio was the primary form of entertainment. In reality PMs accomplishment is far more impressive.
