I actually think LOTR2 is my favorite of the trilogy.

They're all great movies. TTT would be the "least good" in my opinion, only because the middle act does drag just a bit.

But man does it take it home once the Battle of Helm's Deep starts. And Sam's speech at the end always gets me choked up.

Ok I'm working on reading the bible in 90 days with my Sunday school and actually just got done reading Kings 1&2 and 1 Chronicles. One guy named Uzzah was helping David transport the Ark so David's kiddo Solomon could build a house for it. They were not following the rules laid out in PAINFUL detail by Moses in Leviticus/Deutoronomy and were hauling it along on a cart with some oxen. Well the cart tilted and Uzzah, who was apparently a good Jewish fella, got burned by the wrath of God and died. Well David decided he better not take this lethal artifact to the city of David (Jerulesam later I think) so he basically dumped it at a nearby farm and asked them to keep an eye on it, fully expecting them to all get killed.

Well they didn't mess with it and actually were blessed and prospered. So after a few months or so David figured out that Moses wasn't BSing with the details and had the priests of Leviticus carry it with the appropriate wooden poles on their shoulders and transport it to the holy city and it went smooth as butta.

The more ya know!

From google searching apparently most experts think the Ark is in Ethiopia where it was stolen when the Queen of Sheba had a kid with Solomon then swiped the Ark on the way home.

It's been favorite since it came out.

Just watched it last night with my son, his first viewing. He loved it.

One of only two films that I consider to be "perfect films."

This and Casablanca. Weirdly enough, both have Nazis in them. Don't know what that says about me.
The Nazis are the perfect enemy. Hell, the Empire in Star Wars are basically Nazis. They were/are the ultimate evil.

Also, my favorite movie of all time. If I could be anyone from film, it would be Indiana Jones.

We have enjoyed indoctrinating the kids with the love of Indiana Jones. And of course totally prejudiced them against Crystal Skull to the point where they don't want to see it if we can watch Raiders or Last Crusade again.

I showed the Temple of Doom to them (ages 8 and 10) last because it's a bit more gorey and I fast fowarded through the fire pit/heart scene. Temple was my first Indiana Jones movie as a kid, which left me wanting more, and then the other 2 were then simply magical.

Why? The Temple of Doom is not in the same ballpark as Raiders or The Last Crusade, but I'd say it's in the same ballpark as Skull. They are terrible movies only when compared against the greatness of #1 and #3.

Hm, I'll have to rewatch it. I was underwhelmed when I saw it when it came out. I will never not love IJ, we just always choose to watch the others.

I love RotLA. Greatness of film. Saw it first as a kid at our local drive in with the whole family. Great memory.

Temple had a Kate Capshaw in her smoke-show prime, so there's that. Great mine car scene too. But it is definitely 3rd of the 3.

I saw Raiders with my uncle and his girlfriend (they were forced to take me and my brother by grandma), who thought they were going to get some good makeout time in the row behind us. They never took their eyes off the movie.

Theoden is the greatest character in LOTR. And he is extra great in TTT.

Theoden: Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn. Forth, Eorlingas!

Theoden: Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain on the mountain, like wind in the meadow. The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow. How did it come to this?

Theoden: The Horn of Helm Hammerhand will sound in the deep, one last time!

Aragorn: It is an army bred for a single purpose: to destroy the world of men. They will be here by nightfall.

Theoden: Let them come.

OK so we watched Crystal Skull on Amazon Prime Video last night. I give it a solid "Meh" and Temple was way better so this stays in solidly in 4th place not tied for 3rd. Monkeys, aliens, swinging on vines, Surprise easily defeated aboriginal tribesmen, CGI Ants, and there is no way they survive three waterfalls.

What do you think their survival chances are at (a) leaping out a high rise window to fall into a car or (b) diving out of a crashing airplane in an inflatable life boat to hit the ground really hard, ride downhill and plummet off a cliff into rapids? Both happened within the first 10 minutes of The Temple of Doom.

These movies, including Raiders and The Last Crusade, were inspired partly by the serials of the 1930s, and as such feature a lot of sequences that in the serials would have been cliffhangers to be continued in the following episodes. I'm not trying to denigrate Raiders or The Last Crusade, among my top 5 all-time favorites, but even these other two that are generally considered the weakest entries in this series, are fun movies.

I google random things and the other day I googled "movies where the villain was right".*

So RotLA was on this list and it mentioned Jones did more harm than good in this film since the ark would have ended up on that island by itself after belloq opened it. Maybe even the nazis close by would have taken it back to germany so hitler could open it and would have been melted/exploded too. So yeah...thanks dr Jones.

Hey hey!!! He gave it to top people.

No, Dr. Jones gave the Ark to Porkins from Star Wars.

Probably not much better than taking on a convoy of highly armed/trained Wehrmacht soldiers on horseback, armed with a pistol and a whip, and literally kicking each and every one of their asses.

I sometimes wish that Marcus Brody was the badass that Indy lied to the Nazis about. Then we could have an offshoot / prequel series on his character, like Clancy did with John Clark.
