Ummmm.... in the books that were to be, probably

In this show, you get a photoshoped ghost in the background of one shot.

All the cgi work is going to dragons and the undead
And the extremely useful and not boring ice waterfall.

How does he know to wait in the courtyard for his "old friend" Jaime then?

You may have been to it, but they also added a bunch to it per one of the pods I listened to the other day. Seems like a silly thing to blow the budget on when everyone wants to see Ghost.

Damn. Finally got current on this thread.

I missed Ghost. Was he in the crypt?

Also, do we know, besides the Wall and Winterfell, what all Bran the Builder built? It seems WF's crypts might be as safe as the Wall.

tons of people missed it. it was like .5 second shot of him, Sam and Jon and no one on camera even acknowledged Ghost's presence to the point that the white German shepherd Ghost was likely added post-production. .

no way Arya sniffs anywhere near the NK.

That is not her kill.
Another interesting question from this, who are y'all betting on to kill the NK?

Jon seems like the most obvious choice, but GRRM is known for making less obvious choices.

My personal odds:

Jon- 60%
Dany- 15%
Bran- 5%
Arya- 5%
Jaime- 5%
Theon- 3%
Jorah- 2%
Brienne- 1%
Cersei- 1%
Gendry- 1%
Sam the Slayer- 1000%
None of the above- 1%

Jaime kills the Knight King and changes the name of King Slayer forever

Yall really wanted to watch 10 minutes of Bran talking? I get Tyrion, I love Tyrion, but Bran? I'd rather spend 10 minutes reading about Bran Flakes.

Yeah I actually imagine Tyrion regretted that after about 5 mins and it didn't last that long....

in fact just two scenes later Bran is gone and Tyrion is with Jamie by the fire - he ditched Bran quick.

It went like this:

  • battle planning - Tyrion stays after with Bran wants to "talk"
  • Grey worm and Missande in the courtyard for 3 mins
  • Jon on the castle with Sam and Edd for 3 mins
  • and Tyrion is now in the room with Jamie and the fire.

That convo lasted 10 minutes tops - lol.

I'm really interested to see the role that the remaining direwolves play in the show. Personally I think that there's still some sort of plot significance to them, outside of Nymeria's possible wolf army. Not sure what it is, but I think they're more than just pet props for the characters.

Also I'm really rooting for that wolf army led by Nymeria to show up. Makes me think of the ghost army from LOTR.

Aren't there only 2 left? Ghost is at Winterfell with Snow but the other female hasn't been seen in a while and is still wandering in the wilderness. The producers said the CGI on the wolves was too expensive for them to have a bigger role in the show.

I rewatched Ep 2. I think everyone misinterpreted Dany's reaction to Jon telling her the truth. She was shocked and in doubt. Then, when she was saying all that about rightful heir to the iron throne, I don't think she was angry or anything, I think she was trying to get a read on what he was going to say.

I had the same impression when I watched it again. I think she's just going through what this reveal actually means. I didn't interpret it as defensive or concerned about her claim to the throne.

Just rewatched last night as well, and I agree that it's not as angry as it first appeared. It's more like she was just punched in the gut. There may still be some anger in that, especially when it comes to how his brother and best friend are the ones to tell him this, but it wasn't just anger.

I haven't been on this thread much, and I don't have time to go back and catch up, but has anybody speculated yet about the possibility of the Night King resurrecting the deceased Starks in the Crypts? I read that theory online and it just makes sense with how much emphasis the show is placing on the crypts lately.

Ditto... I rewatched it and she did not appear nearly as mad as I thought the first time. she questions it at first but then he says it's true he knows it is.

In fact when the horn sounds she is still waiting for a response (she said if it were true you would have a claim to the iron throne) and her eyes stay on him - he is the one that turns and looks away. but the look is one of I don't know but love was still in there, like hopeful that he would say well it doesn't matter if we get married or something like that.

And then of course on the WF walls they nod and go off together to mount the dragons presumably. Still a team I think.....

As far as loose ends go, is Edmund Tully the ruler of House Frey? If so, where are they and his army? Should we expect Nymeria to show up with her pack to protect Arya? Why else did they include the scene of her last season if not to have her show up again?

What about the Blackfish? Where is he?

I re-watched last night as well, and I kept thinking it won't matter if one of them dies, but no way Jon keeps up the relationship with Dany. In fact, most of the episode he was being short with her.

I will say that the "saved by the bell" trope was pretty annoying this episode. Both Sansa/Dany's "What about the north?" and Jon/Dany's throne discussions were cut short, and it feels like a really cheap writing trick to leave discussions unresolved until after the battle.
