Pretty solid theory, seen on Reddit today.

In season 4 of GoT, when Littlefinger is escorting Sansa to the Eyrie to meet her Aunt, he is explaining to Sansa that the only way to get to the Eyrie is by passing through the Bloody Gates. He then states something like, "It doesn't matter HOW large your army is. To get to the Eyrie, you have to walk through the Bloody Gate and only 3 men can stand side by side and walk through the path at a time" (this is paraphrased, not exactly what he said but I'm going off of memory.)
Not unreasonable to think Sansa might remember this important bit of info when the army of the dead is at their doorstep.
Absolutely. They are going to abandon Winterfell, where they have been stockpiling food for all of season 7, to trudge through 30 foot snow drifts, while an ice dragon attacks from above.

Critical thinking is dead. Thanks Obama, Instagram, and OP's mom.

Bro, you're forgetting the ability of humans to fast travel in this show. One cut and they can be in the Eyrie.

kind of bull*****

there are only 6 episodes. even if supersized, that is 8 episodes.

they are filming now. even with all of that post-production, they could air this this fall.

not with the amount of post production they claim.
hbo will just delay sending it to its worldwide affiliates. no way in hell they let this last bonanza season leak.

So I recently finished the books. Anyone care to discuss a few of the plot differences and how we think those might play out if GRRM ever finishes?

1. Victarion: fair to assume some similar fate as Quinton? Maybe not death by dragon but I assume his fleet gets wiped out before reaching Dany or he shows up and she's gone and he heads back to Westeros? Seems the last book ended and he knew she was rumored to be in the Dothraki sea and he wasn't prepared to give up...

2. Aegon - again, I'm guessing he gets wiped out before ever meeting Dany. Otherwise he would have had a role on the show. In this case Tyrion was with Aegon and Tyrion is likely about to reach Dany. I wonder how that might play out?

3. People seem to have not liked the addition of Quinton, Aegon and Victarion plots in the books (or maybe better said they liked the simpler plots presented by HBO). I actually really enjoyed those plots, particularly quintons since you got to see it through to the end. While His plot was a big waste of time from the standpoint that he didn't marry Dany or bring her forces together with his Dornish army, he released the dragons and she now knows Dorne is an army she can easily get to come to her side when she returns to Westeros.

What are some other plot differences you are curious how they play out?

Not really sure I understand the question as these characters were not introduced in to the HBO series and, for better or worse, HBO is finishing this. I suppose it's possible GRRM could get TWOW in to print at some point in the next decade but I doubt it and he certainly won't write ADOS.

As for the three characters and the their roles in the books, IMO:

Victarion's arc I really enjoyed. I think he was to ultimately serve as the vehicle to help lift the siege of Mareen and then use his ships to get her army across the sea. Figured he would simply die screaming trying to tame the dragons, Dany get the ships, and a few Ironborn join her. HBO replaced this arc by simply having Asha/Yara and Theon steal a bunch of ships and go find Dany.

Quenton was one of the biggest wastes of pages GRRM wrote in. Completely pointless. I honestly think he added that boondoggle thinking he had something there, couldn't make it important, and didn't want to rewrite any chapters, so he just unceremoniously ended the arc.

Aegon seems to be the second biggest waste of time and energy next to Quenton. This was building to be a major arc in the books yet HBO completely bypassed it. I think at best, had TWOW been published, the arc is probably a bucket of nothing and only confuses the situation in Westeros by adding a fourth army in play.

Aegon

Generally agree with all of that. The question was a hypothetical on that assumes at some point someone finishes the book series...

Just wanted to say that I'm rewatching the series with my girlfriend who hasn't seen it. We just finished "Hardhome" last night. I swear that seeing the reactions of my significant other throughout the series is just as much fun as the series itself.

Even though I knew the outcome, I felt exactly like that. My gf's favorite character is John Snow so she was very unstable during this episode when he was fighting the White Walker. I can't wait to see what happens to her when she sees the season finale of season 5 "Mother's Mercy." Lol

I know I'm probably late, but I was watching Logan Lucky this weekend and there's a scene where the inmates have a list of demands. Their demands are the last two ASOIAF books. The guy talks about how GRRM had a deadline and there's no way the books hadn't been published yet. The warden just says that the show has passed the books now and are their own thing

Two things stick out really bad that tells you it's not real:
1) the aforementioned ThumbNailMaker stamp in the lower right corner
2) the 11-18 date
