I thought it was a very, very good film. Not sure if it's one I'm happy I saw in theaters vs just on HBO/Starz, but that's not because it isn't fantastic. Just not sure if it's one of those that is made better by the theater experience.

Oldman was amazing. I was at times lost as to who was playing Churchill. If I didn't know ahead of time it was Gary, I would have never known. His performance definitely kept me immersed in the movie.

I thought the ending was a little abrupt, but that is literally my only complaint about the film. I think I know the scene referenced above, and I was one of the ones sniffling at the end of it. Just an incredibly moving, powerful moment in the film. Highly recommend watching.

Saw it today and it was a great film! Gary Oldman is amazing as Churchill, it's literally like you're watching the man himself on screen. I know that makeup and prosthetics have improved over the years but this is the first film where I can truly say you can't tell it's a much thinner man under it.

Personally, I wasn't so big on Dunkirk (just didn't care for how Nolan told the story), but it was interesting to see Churchill's side of that situation.

Havent't seen the movie yet, but I've been looking forward to it since the first trailer was released. This clip from Into the Storm is one of my favorite movie scenes ever and I'm looking forward to how it is done with Oldman.

A must see. Best movie I've seen in 15 years. Not even close.

Fantastic movie, one of the best I've ever seen. More impactful and powerful than I expected. I really never wanted it to end.

Great movie. Oldman is deserving of every possible acting award for this role.

Might be the best WWII movie since Saving Private Ryan. And I really liked Dunkirk.

(not including BoB or the Pacific)

That was a great companion piece to Dunkirk.

Oldman has to be a lock for Best Actor.

My opinion, anyway.

More range than Nicholson ever showed and that guy has a shelf full of Oscars.

Saw it last night. Incredible movie and performance by Oldman.

Saw the movie this week and agree. Great movie and absolutely agree about Oldman. Great performance and you need Lily James to look at to offset how distractedly ugly Oldman was as Churchill.

For those of you that are fanboys of Churchill or would like an easy but fun read, Boris Johnson (former London Mayor) wrote a biography about Churchill. Many say he was trying to write a book about a man he wanted to be, but it was a fun read for a biography. If you liked this movie, you'd probably like the book.

There were more than only one or two people of colour around London in 1940. Although it was good to see how filmmakers handled the Macaulay quote completion, a bigger representation would have been welcome.

No kidding, how could they call it Darkest Hour and have so few people of colour?

Here's some goosebumps for yall,

I also liked this speech if only for the crowd's reaction.

What's interesting/inspiring with the "we will fight" sequence is it follows the logical sequence of a fighting retreat. When pushed from France, the fight is on the Seas, when pushed from the seas, fight with the newest form of warfare in the air(hence the growing confidence and growing strength), etc... all the way to where the cities are captured and the population is in a guerrilla fight "in the hills". Just neat to think about...
