I'm going to hope that he was saying that as they alluded to, because of the social media complaints about the pg-13 rating making them censor it too much.

Social media reviews come out later tonight at midnight.

Full reviews (ones for RT score) come out tomorrow evening around 9:30pm.

Usually (though not always), it's a sign that the studio doesn't have confidence in the movie being well received.

yeah, I know.

There are two reasons for no reviews yet:

1) the studio hasn't let anyone see it yet.
2) reviewers have an embargo that will keep them from publishing until a few days before the movie comes out.

I'm not sure which is the case here. There's a certain poster on this forum who may have more information on this.

(edit) Googling it tells me that there is an embargo for reviews that won't be lifted until Tuesday night and that most critics haven't even seen it yet.

No one has seen it yet. Critics/journalists/bloggers are seeing it Tuesday night and the embargo lifts that night as well. In other words, this movie is likely a dud. Honestly, I can't imagine even being mildly interested in seeing it. It looks so bad...

I think my kids want to see it, so I'll eventually take them.

I have about as much enthusiasm for this as I do for that movie with Khal Drogo talking to fish.

Out of curiosity, I checked (as I have Amazon Prime):

all the showings in B/CS are grayed out for this weekend.

I disagree about competition being bad. The next few weeks have some pretty big movies coming out.

A Star Is Born this week, which has been getting great reviews.
Both First Man and Bad Times at the El Royale next week
Halloween in 2 weeks.

I don't think Venom really has much room to breathe. Especially if word of mouth is bad.

Agreed. The Oscar race unofficially begins this weekend with the release of A Star Is Born, which may not dominate the box office (though it should do very well), but is certainly going to dominate the pop culture conversation. From this weekend on it's Oscar movie after Oscar movie, and especially after next weekend, Venom is going to be a distant memory with First Man, Bad Times at the El Royale, and Beautiful Boy all hitting theaters on the 12th, and yeah, Halloween and Supsiria after that. First Man, in particular, will take over IMAX screens next Thursday, giving Venom only a week in those theaters, which is decent blow as well.

Completely agree. I think the Venom movie may get more of a "meh" kind of reaction overall. No one asked for this movie and its looked weak since the first trailer dropped.

First Man will absolutely be something I'll go see in theaters. Bad Times I may wait a week or so to see the reviews, but I might see it in theaters as well.
