I enjoy a wide variety of music too. But Counting Crows suck elephant testicles.
thanks for your opinion.
First one is free. The rest I'm going to charge you for.
and I am sure you only enjoy universally agreed upon ****ing awesome music.
No, because most people are idiots and can't recognize true musical genius like I can.
maybe it is the ear wax or the beard overflowing into your ears.

also, i'd love to know what you consider musical genius and why.

furthermore, i'd like to know why you only consider "musical genius" to be good music or worthy of acclaim.
Never said it had to be musical genius to be good. Some of the greatest music is simple. But true musical genius is a lot harder for the dolts of this world to comprehend.

you have strong opinions of music, berate people for their own opinions but cannot produce an example when asked?

Ministry's "With Sympathy"

I bought this album after falling in love with "land of rape and honey". I thought someone had switched CDs out of their cases

Did you ever buy their 12 inch singles CD?

How would a 12 inch CD even work?
Very carefully.

Many already posted, I agree.

Chicago's debut album was awesome and hasn't yet been mentioned. Great songs, new sound.

Boston's first release gets my vote. Excellent, innovative.

And The Band's still stands out for me.

And, I think, Creedence Clearwater Revival's and Buddy Holly's deserve mention also.

I actually listened to CCRs first album yesterday but I guess I don't like it as much as many others and wouldn't put it that high. Don't like Put a Spell. Bootleg is good

Boston is fine, I just despise the arena/corporate rock genre that came along with it. With a few exceptions, late 70s/early 80s rock is awful. It reminds me a lot of late 90s post grunge. So generic and bland.

Rhino Bucket's debut--fine hard rock album few seem to know about
The Darkness' debut--fine band
Rose Tattoo's debut--this is their best and I happen to like Aussie pub rock
The Poor's Who Cares?--Australia band that never got it together after their debut

The usual have already been mentioned.

Not the best, but "Cracked Rear View" probably deserves to be in the discussion, at least from a commercially successful/radio airplay perspective.

NOMINATIONS ARE CLOSED........

Time for the Vote.

This is the FIRST ROUND - you may vote for between 1 and 12 albums in this round.

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BG3JMVW

Entries are alphabetical by band name - if you can't find it look for "The" preceding the band name. I've included all legit nominated bands/albums that were actual debut albums.

Voting will remain open for approx. 5 days - concluding Saturday sometime.

The Top 12 from this voting round will make the semifinals - In the semifinals you can then vote for your top 4.
The top 4 will make the finals - in the finals you can vote for 1.

Neat idea, Zombie!

The tough part of this (and I hope others follow), is not naming your 'favorites" and actually thinking, "Did this album (or will it) have lasting impact? How many bands did it influence?

I love Blizzard of Oz, every damn song. Same with Rated R by QOTSA, but had a hard time including them because of my criteria. I don't know that I've heard Please Please Me in the last 20 years, but I'm not ignorant to it's impact.
