Presley,

I had to figure it out on the spot, but what I did was:

Open Spotify on my computer (the app)
Go to the playlist
Click the "..." button next to "play"
Click the "Copy playlist link"

Below is my "River Trip" playlist...let me know if it works!

Haha thanks, everything else I put together is usually has more in common...my goal there was:

- something I didn't have to "babysit" (it's in a cooler, in a tube, and my hands are wet...if "Barbie Girl" comes on, I'm SOL"
- something that you want to sing along to

Suggestions are always welcome...but maybe that's a good subject for another thread

a few things I've discovered during my recent journey through the depths of spotify's 90s country selection:

1) a surprising number of 90s country stars are still putting out music
2) most 90s country stars really only had one or two good albums
3) nearly every 90s country star released a Christmas album once their career slowed
4) nearly every 90s country star released a greatest hit after their Christmas album, most of which only had a handful of actual hits on there (come on lila mccann, really?)
5) 90s country stars were really big fans of song titles with this format: This Is My New Song (That I Hope You Like)

I've also found myself in a pretty good mood listening to this stuff the last couple days. I listen to a lot of dark, gritty type country music (james mcmurtry, hayes carll, etc) and this has been a good change of pace. Maybe it's just nostalgia.

Nice! Now if you think some guys might have slipped through the cracks, go to "similar artists" and you can make sure you got everybody covered.

I'm following it now!

I had several artist ideas while reading the thread, but they were all captured by the time I got through it all. I'll post if I think of anyone else.

I Let Her Lie and Amen Kind of Love are fantastic songs. I'll have to check out his new one.

As to the poster who said The Great Divide, they are probably my favorite band ever. I keep looking for them to play as part of their Great Divide Reunion, but can never find a show. Saw a poster of them coming to Billy Bobs last year but it was the same fate the GF got us tickets to the Garth show in Houston. Their website and Facebook pages are awful.

I've lost track of this thread, but did Randy Travis get mentioned?

Shame he fell off the wagon like he did because that man made some great music.

man, where did country music go so wrong in the last fifteen years?
Same thing that happened in the late 70s and early 80s. George Strait, Alan Jackson and Clint Black were the response. It will cycle again.

eh, maybe. I think the entire music landscape is changing into something that's never been. mainstream music is all sort of becoming the same. rap, rock, pop, and country used to be very distinct genres, but in recent years they've all basically melded into one dumbed-down autotuned...thing. you have to look to non-mainstream outlets to find traditional music (in any genre). I don't foresee music really re-separating into distinct genres again.

anyways, that's my theory.

Just scanned the first page and it looks like there have been a lot of great suggestions. Some specific songs that come to mind (not sure if they've been mentioned):

Smoking Armadillos - Let Your Heart Lead Your Mind
Billy Ray Cyrus - In The Heart of a Woman, Some Gave All
Lari White - That's How You Know
Rhett Akins - That Ain't My Truck, What They're Talkin' About
Pam Tillis - Shake the Sugar Tree, Maybe it was Memphis, Spilled Perfume
Tanya Tucker - Down to My Last Teardrop
Suzy Bogguss - Letting Go
Daryle Singeltary - I Let Her Lie, Too Much Fun
John Berry - Your Love Amazes Me, Shes Taken a Shine
Lee Ann Womack - I'll Think of a Reason Later
Jeff Carson - Shine On, Not on Your Love
Mark Collie - Even the Man on the Moon Is Crying
Kentucky Headhunters - Walk Softly on This Heart of Mine
Mary Chapin Carpenter - The Hard Way, I Take My Chances, I Fell Lucky, Down at the Twist and Shout, Why Walk When You Can Fly
Lone Star - No News, Come Cryin' to Me, Tequila Talkin', Runnin' Away With My Heart
Doug Stone - Warning Labels, I Never Knew Love, A Jukebox with a Country Song

Jeff Carson's biggest hit was Not on Your Love, but my favorite was probably The Car...brings back some memories. He later did a duet with Lisa Brokop, another 90's one-hit artist.

Wade Hayes has been mentioned, but that guy doesnt get enough credit. Doctors gave him a 12% of living through stage 4 cancer and he beat it. I saw Wade a few months ago in an acoustic deal with Andy Griggs. Very good stuff. Oklahoma might suck but theyve produced some high quality country artists.

I mentioned Brett James earlier. His claim to fame in the 90s was Female Bonding...ugh. But hes all over country music today as s songwriter. He is also an Okie and went to Baylor.

I did not know that.

CCR was formed in Oklahoma, and I just assumed (yes, I know) that all the guys were from Oklahoma, because ... well, who would MOVE to Oklahoma?

Anyway, Cody does a VERY entertaining acoustic show.

Garth, Reba, Vince Gill, Joe Diffie, all from OK. also, legandary Garth gutarist Ty England, who had one of the better ballads in the 90s Smoke in Her Eyes.

he moved there before college I think. I saw him play at the REK No 2 Live Dinner 20 year anniversary and, man, it was a great show. I think he has a lot of emotional baggage around the break up of Ragweed, and it comes out in his show. he just seemed a lot more real than he seemed back in college watching him play at shadow canyon or wherever.

"Sunday In The South" is one of my all time favorites. Part of it is because of nostalgia.

Add Rodney Crowell and Radney Foster/Foster and Lloyd to the list. They might be considered more late 80's but they got a lot of 90's airtime. They both have really good newer stuff.
