Suzy Bogguss really put out some underrated stuff in that decade too. Not saying shes anywhere near Strait or Brooks...just sayin she had lotsa good stuff in the 90s and a lota people dont think of her.

I blame much of the crap on the radio today on the stuff that began to flow out in the 90's. Indian Outlaw was terrible.....and as much as I enjoy Garth for nostalgic purposes (I was in high school in the early 90's and he was right in my wheel house), I think his stuff leading into Kenny Chesney sent us down the road that led to the suck of most of today's country music (Nashville junk).
Garth gets far too much blame. What he did was put on a good show. The fact that asshats decided to start pushing just the show and no decent music isn't on him.
And really I think that mentality ruined some good artists. Kenny Chesney was damned solid at first. As was Toby Keith.

I completely agree with that. And I don't really "blame" Garth. In my mind, it was his style of entertainment/performance/show, and in some cases singing, that they all began trying to replicate, and build on. That's not his fault....but it pointed the car toward what it's all become today.
