Has anyone read this novel? I have and I've fallen into it. I can't stop thinking about it. The world building the author, Pierce Brown, has done is incredible.

I'm currently on the sequel Golden Son and so far it's even better than Red Rising. I just can't put it down.

The novel is about a guy named Darrow who is basically a mining slave on Mars. He's living in a Spartan type society and is at the very bottom. Some bad stuff happens and he ends up being executed. But end the end, he survives and is given the chance to change himself so he can infiltrate the higher parts of society and exact his revenge.

Assuming the series is fully written, they would be great. They only failed once there was no written source material to adapt

I loved the ending of the third book.

My advice is take a short break, then get through book 4. After that, it gets crazy good. Book 4 is really good, but is a set up for what is coming. Nothing like those middle of the series Wheel of Time slogs.

I can't wait for the last book. Certain characters require reaping.

Love red rising (have only red the first trilogy and need to finish the rest). May just read it all from the beginning bc it's been a while. Didn't realize they were making a show. It willl be epic if done right.

Just finished book 4 and started book 5 immediately.

Can't get enough of this series.

Book 4 and 5 are just darker in general and a little rougher to get through. Book 6 was more of a return to form but definitely a rough death in that to stomach as well.

I don't think a TV series is currently in the works.

That's what people were discussing on the previous page. Seems like it is in the works but not many details are out. Unless I'm misreading what was being discussed on the previous page.

so i take it I should try and start this first book again.... for whatever reason I couldn't hop on board with the drillers/classes/descriptions at the start of Red Rising and lost interest really fast; perhaps I didn't give it a hard enough try!

Ummm...yes, would highly recommend you restarting from the beginning. There is a lot to the RR universe, but the notion of colors/classes is fundamental. That said, the series is absolutely awesome (IMO) and is worth persevering through the foundation-laying portions.

The first book IMO is hands down the worst book of the entire series.

Great book!! Can't wait to start the next one.

To the guy above who asked if who should give it a go after giving up after the first few chapters….I feel you. It was getting nowhere fast for me too but stick with it.

I haven't, but I absolutely plan to. I've been surprised by the less than luke warm reviews it has been getting. Some really like it, bit most seem to comment that it feels like an entirely different book and story telling process. I'm intrigued to read it though. Read lots of series where the second book is a bit of a drop off but third book is the best. So liked the first book well enough that I'd hate to miss that if it happened.

I just finished a Strength of the Few - I feel like i had the same issue with the second book as the first - it just takes so long to get things moving. The back half of each book is like, hot damn - but the first half was just really hard for me to keep pushing through.

Google is saying late 2026 for Red God release. Or when Brown is "happy with it." Might do a reread this year in anticipation.
