Best Captain McKay bit was announcing that some boy band (NSYNC or Backstreet) was broken down at the DQ in CS. Girls started calling in saying that they're at the DQ and that the band wasn't there. "Oh, did I say DQ, I meant <some other restaurant in Bryan>." Then more call ins followed saying that no one was there, followed by another location announcement. It drug out for a while and was hilarious.

Kevin I enjoyed you on radio back in the day and even met you in person with a shorter fatter dude sidekick once. You had long hair and were exactly what I pictured a rock DJ to look like.
I don't remember why they fired you, but I remember you were pretty irreverent on-air the day Bonfire fell in '99 and people were calling in telling you to tone it down. Did that have anything to do with your eventual firing?

Oh man. People have different humor sensibilities and I could see Bonfire not going over well.

Hey there! no, the bonfire had nothing to do w/ being fired. I was playing it pretty straight after that tragedy, but yes, people called anyways. One girl said "I can HEAR the smartass in your voice!" Anyways...

Well, one of them was way bigger (taller) than all the rest, and i just made some "she must have flunked out/ look how much bigger she is" comments, and APPARENTLY she was the daughter of someone at the School, who in turn was friends with our GM Benny, and he immediately decided that was reason to fire me.
I was sad at the time, but really happy where I ended up.
