I consider myself to be of above average intelligence. However, I am a huge Adam Sandler fan. And for one reason and one reason only. When I watch one of his movies, I know exactly what I am going to get. There is no analyzing it before, during or after the movie. The movie is exactly what it is, a dumb comedy with some sort of positive message and something my entire family can see. I am probably one of the only people on here that can say I've seen all of his movies and enjoyed most of them. The best thing about him is that he never takes himself seriously and doesn't pretend his movies are Oscar worthy. He knows exactly what they are and as long as people like me enjoy them, he will keep making them.

Sandler peaked with Going Overboard, that is a movie that also stars Billy Bob Thornton, Peter Berg, Billy Zane, and other recognizable names. Highly recommend every Sandler fan watch it beginning to end.

Adam Sandler's 'Pixels' Is Bombing With Critics

The thing is, Pixels isn't anywhere near a total disaster. It's competent at times especially when the film is focusing on the action of fighting classic arcade characters it just seems like a movie that should easily be a lot better. And it would have been if this was truly a Chris Columbus movie, but it's instead n [sic] obvious collaboration between the two because, for every competent Columbus shot, there's a dumb Sandler moment to counter it. For every well-staged action sequence, it's followed by something dumb, like a Dan Patrick cameo.

I bet he makes money on this movie though.

Hell yeah -- he's gonna rake it in, and good for him.
I'm looking forward to it.

Also, Pixels isn't even remotely his idea, he just bought the concept and then threw the trappings of a ****ty Sandler movie on top of it.

So maybe it won't suck?

He also didn't bring in one of his director cronies. Chris Columbus (while he has dropped off since his peak in the early 90's) may actually bring this up from a D to a solid C.

Still, my kids really want to see this (they don't know who Sandler is, they just want to see Pac Man destroy a city) so I'll have to pay money to see an Adam Sandler movie for the first time since....wow: the Longest Yard back in 2005.

if the people from Scott Pilgrim did the Pixels movie..it would be really awesome.

That raises a great point. This isn't the typical Sandler film about a hair styling Israeli special forces ageny, or "special" football waterboy, that only Sandler would make. This material had the chance to be good in the right hands.

I couldn't get more than 3-4 minutes into this because this reviewer is TERRIBLE.

Want to be taken more seriously as a movie critic? Don't resort to pointless profanity in every other sentence. It cheapens the points you are making. You can be angry and funny without having to stoop to childish vulgarity.

his reviews are usually not like this. The fact that this one is says something on its own.

compare it to his Ant-Man review

What's funny is the production company responsible for "Gods not dead" is just as bad. They put out garbage and trash that panders to the lowest common denominator and they make millions doing so.

Doesn't pander to lowest common denominator. Panders to a specific group of people.

Yeah, I've got to agree there.

While I don't care for any of those Christian-themed films, I would not use the term "lowest common denominator" but instead say they target a specific group of people.

Would you say that a film made by and for black audiences is for the "lowest common denominator"? No. Then don't denigrate Christians with the same insults.

This thread gets done all the time.

It's hard to hate on someone who is uber successful, does what he loves, and set up all his friends with jobs and gets to work with them every day. And it's not like you have to watch them.

Good for him.
Exactly!

And, everyone talks about how much they hate his movies. Somehow, everyone still watches them. I think people privately enjoy them for what they are but won't admit it.

They target christians who can not and will not think for themselves who want to be assured that all non-christians are just evil caricatures. I'd say that's the lowest common denominator.

Tyler Perry does the same thing by targeting the LCD of the black community.

what's close-minded about what he said? He didn't say that all Christians are like this, he said that those movies appeal to those who are. Are you denying that there are Christians that are exactly how he described? Have you been to R&P lately?

Saw Pixels yesterday. The whole family, including my Sandler hating wife really liked it, especially the kids.

I used to really like Sandler movies but like others said, I grew up to some degree and he didn't so I've been liking them less and less. I thought Grown Ups 2 was one of the worst movies ever made and refuse to see Paul Blart 2. I thought Pixels was definitely entertaining.

Saw Pixels with my 9 year old son today and we both liked it. It has a good amount of the Sandler crew you see in all his movies but less of them than normal and having Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage (awesome) and Michelle Monaghan (looked great) really helped.

Dinklage was outstanding. The subtle 80s references were also great.

Saw this with my 6 year old nephew and thought it would be a lot of fun. I'm not a Sandler hater by any means. Honestly, I kind of appreciate his attitude towards film making and I've enjoyed a lot of his stuff. Hell I thought That's My Boy was hilarious. I figured the reviews were just berating him because of his name without giving it a fair shot...

That said, this was truly ****ing awful. Just garbage... it was originally a short film for a reason. Yes the idea of a giant Pac Man in the streets of New York is really cool... but you have to give a semblance of effort on the story. I seriously would bet they wrote that crap in a day... And Futurama's 10 minute segment they ripped off for this was way better.

Frustrating for sure, because this could've easily been a really fun movie in the right hands of people that actually gave a ****.

Funny People is underrated. Lots of hilarious quips. The dinner scene where Eric Bana is barking mandarin back and forth with his kids when Rogan mentions that it reminds him of the scene from dear hunter. Eminen and Ray Ramano. Good stuff.

Also 50 first dates is mildly entertaining.

Lots of garbage on the sand let list, but there are some mediocre movies that serve a purpose.

Just watch the futurama version of it. I can't imagine a movie doing it better than the original.
