Anyone else see this over the weekend?

Thought it was decent. Entertaining for the most part, and featured a couple of nice twists and turns, but it felt like it was lacking overall. Just something kind of hollow/off about it that I can't quite put my finger on. There's not a single thing "wrong" with it, but it's bugging me to no end that I can't figure out why it kind of missed for me. So I'm curious if anyone else saw it or what you thought of it. If you haven't seen it yet, it might be worth a matinee ticket, but otherwise, this is the perfect movie to eventually catch on cable.

If anything, Margot Robbie has absolutely, 100% secured herself a spot on the short list of super hot, but also genuinely good, actresses. Good gosh that woman is absolutely stunning in this movie. Like, all-timer for me. I also read that she refuses to date actors. So, knowing that, I'm stating this as a fact: at some point I'm going to meet her at a party and there's no way I'm not taking take my shot. A good friend of mine - a normal, average dude - made out Sarah Paulson - a known/former(?) lesbian - at a party a while back, and that not only blew my mind, but completely opened my eyes as to what is possible when it comes to stuff like that. He put himself out there, and got rewarded.

ANYWAY, super weird tangent, but put simply... Focus = decent/fun-ish, Margot Robbie = WOW.

A friend of a friend apparently hit it off quite well with Heather Graham after meeting her at a party.

Robie has been in a relationship for some time. He's in the industry, but behind the scenes. She seems pretty down to earth.

There are a lot of actors and actresses around Brentwood here. There's a little restaurant/pub at Sunset and Barrington here. I've seen and chatted with actors and actresses there (Andrew Breitbart died on the walk home after drinking at the bar at this place). They're in and out of there for dinner and drinks all the time. I also see a lot of actors and actresses at my gym. And at Vincente Foods (Christian Bale buying frozen pizza for his kid). Quite a few shop at the Whole Foods up the street but it seems more seem to like the relative quiet of Vincente Foods.

One thing I've noticed is that these guys get freaked out when you "recognize" them and carry on. No doubt there are some that don't. But Robie strikes me as one of the ones that would. It would be tough. I've seen Alessandra Ambrosia in yoga pants at the Santa Monica stairs...and let me tell you I couldn't think straight. But if you keep your wits you'd probably have a chance.

A guy I work with has a story about Laura Linney from a few years back. He was a fan. He was trying to find his car in a confusing parking garage and she offered to drive him around the garage to find it. He said they were having a great conversation until he just couldn't help himself and mentioned how much he liked her in whatever. Apparently it just killed the vibe. His theory was she has that conversation all the time. And as soon as he brought it up he bored her.

Ha, I actually live in Brentwood and see celebs all the time at the exact spots you're mentioning. I basically live across the street from Vicente Foods, and am at that Whole Foods (a block away) practically every other day. And yeah, I know exactly what you mean about how to play it with them at parties and what not. I would never in a million years talk to a famous-ish actor/actress about their work unless they bring it up first. The more normal the conversation, the better.

As for Robbie, A) she's young, so the current boyfriend won't last, and B) I may just skip the whole public meet and greet and instead write an Oscar-winning part for her in my next script and get to know her that way. Should be simple enough.

When it was Longs you used to see a lot of celebs at drugstore. Saw Kate Beckinsale and her guy there. Yeah, she is fantastic. No one seems to like the CVS. Bunch of poors that shop with coupons now.

Another place I see a lot of celebs is the Country Mart down on 26th. I like that bookstore there and see some from time to time browsing it. Saw Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann (who also looked fantastic in some pretty tight jeans) there one day. She was yelling after her daughters because they ran out in front of my car without looking. Sandler is there from time to time.

It is a pretty incredible neighborhood for star sightings. Dustin Hoffman browsing magazines. Rob Reiner and Billy Bob Thornton at the Whole Foods. Harrison Ford watching his kid play soccer at the rec fields on Barrington where I sometimes shoot baskets.

What I don't see a lot of is single actresses around here, though I see from publicity shots and instagram stuff that they are around a lot of the same places I am. Those stairs in Santa Monica and the jogging trail around the country club seem to be prime time territory.

I get a sense that there's a lot of models or lower level actresses living in this neighborhood, too.

A few years ago I had an early afternoon doctor's appointment. I'm not often in the area during the weekday. I decided just to take the afternoon off. Had a late lunch. I could not believe the women in the neighborhood. Women that I don't see during the weekends for some reason.

OLIVIA WILDE

I coordinated this photo shoot for GQ with her as the talent a few years back. Small/intimate shoot at a house in Topanga Canyon and she was also super-cool and fun to work with...

Next up...

REBECCA ROMIJN

Probably the nicest/coolest model/actress I've ever met. Did a shoot with her for Bebe (pics below) in a building downtown a few years ago. I was always the guy who had to greet the talent when they arrived, so I was waiting alone outside this building for her and Jerry O'Connell (her husband) to show up (on the lookout for a black Prius). When they did, she got out of the car, and was just instantly the warmest, most down to earth person imaginable. We all introduced ourselves, shook hands, and then I asked her what she wanted for breakfast. She asked, "What do you have?" I said, "Anything you want" (we really did have just about anything imaginable), and as long as I live I'll never forget the way she said, "Anything I want?" in the most flirtatious way imaginable. She obviously wasn't flirting with ME, but that's just the way her personality was and, again, I could not compute that exact moment. Her face was about two feet from mine - in three dimensions - speaking to me in a flirtatious manner. The same woman who, all throughout my high school days, was on the covers of Victoria Secret and the SI Swimsuit Issue. Growing up, in the back of your mind, you think maybe, in some bizarro world, you'd have a shot with someone like this. But standing next to a supermodel of that caliber, in just her underwear, the reality becomes all too clear that I wouldn't even know where to begin. She was like a completely different species...

Ha, sorry! For some reason I had a gazillion things come up last minute today...

Ok, so, years ago I did this photo shoot with supermodel Eva Herzigova for a new Dom Perignon champagne (pics below). Karl Lagerfeld was the photographer (who is insanely awesome, by the way - I was actually on cheek-kissing terms with him at one point after doing a couple of shoots for him) and there was a huge launch party for the campaign at a house in Beverly Hills. My job for the weekend was taking Karl and his crew all around LA, and that included attending this INSANE party Saturday night.

He, his crew, and Eva were all staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and when I went to pick them up for the party, Eva has on this million dollar (literally) piece of jewelry that required a bodyguard by her side at all times. Anyway, we all pile in this rented van and when we get to the party, there's a red carpet out front, paparazzi, the whole nine yards. We make our way through the house and enter the backyard... and it was just this sea of hip, famous people everywhere. And they all stopped to watch Karl, Eva, and our entire entourage enter. It was just surreal to be a part of from the get go.

Karl is basically addicted to Diet Coke, and it was my job to keep the Diet Cokes coming at all times. Which meant standing directly by his side the entire night. This was back when Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan and Jessica Simpson were all in their prime, and at one point during the night, all three of them were vying for time with Karl, kind of waiting their turn, and I was literally wedged in this tight triangle of starlets, one of them on each side of me. Lohan was drunk out of her mind and was literally falling into me. It was crazy.

We only stayed for an hour or so (I obviously did NOT want to leave), but Karl's old, was tired, and was ready to go. Eva, however, wasn't. So I drove Karl and his crew back to the hotel, and as he was getting out, he asked if I'd go back and pick up Eva so they could all have dinner together. I said sure, drove back to the party and found Eva, the center of attention. I told her Karl was requesting her for dinner, and she was super cool about it, ready to go by then, and said she just needed to say goodbye to a few people. She did just that, and we were in the far corner of the backyard, this entire sea of celebrities between us and the backdoor of the house, which was the only way out.

At this moment - a moment I will never, ever forget - she locks her arm with mine, like I'm some gentleman escorting his lady, and she says, "I'm ready." So, dumbfounded, I turn and escort her, with her bodyguard and agent in tow (to this day, I still have no idea why she didn't grab either of their arms), leading her through the party, toward the back door. As I do, I swear it was like time slowed down. I was in a dream, and these were just some of the faces I remember turning and looking at us as I passed with a supermodel on my arm... Jared Leto, Courtney Love, Ben Mckenzie, Maria Bello, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson... then we come upon the back porch and I'll never forgot Pierce Brosnan turning around with this slightly curious look on his face like who is THAT guy escorting HER... and in that moment, all I could think was JAMES BOND, at least for a split second, is jealous of ME... we enter through the back door... and there's Beck and his wife on the couch giving me the exact same look. At that point we're coming upon the wide open double front doors, with the paparazzi at bay, just beyond the red carpet. Again, my memory of this is all in super slow motion... I see the paparazzi ready their cameras... and it hits me that I'm about to have photographic proof of this moment that I will be able to send to every person I've ever met... we're almost to the front door... then, like a record scratch, everything suddenly slams back to real time, Eva unlocks her arm from mine, darts in front of me, and starts doing solo poses on the red carpet... with me just out of frame. So bittersweet.

But I can't complain. I ended up taking her back to the hotel, and Karl invited me and our producer to stay for dinner - consisting of $25,000 caviar - which was an experience in and of itself.

So, yeah. That's really all there is to the story. I actually ended up doing a shoot with Paris Hilton five days later - this was for the cover of Blender magazine when she had that horrible hit single - and I had to take her "off premises" from a house where we were shooting so she could smoke a joint. For 15 minutes, in a windowless a cargo van parked on the side of the road in this uber-rich neighborhood, Paris, her hairdresser and I just shot the sh*t while she smoked, and she actually brought up the party the weekend before. So it was crazy that I had actually been at the same party (especially with Karl), and was able to chime in and keep up like I was on her level or something. I remember her going on and on about how a drunk Lohan tried to crash her after party that night, and ended up balling her eyes out, asking Paris why she hated her (Paris and her ****** boyfriend had just made those "Firecrotch" T-shirts with Lohan's face on them - which Paris thought was hilarious.) Anyway, she was nice to me, but such a ***** that day overall. She literally threw a temper tantrum because she wanted to wear this ridiculous brunette wig for the shoot that no else wanted her to wear. She screamed, "I have the most famous face in the world! It's not like people won't know it's me!" and - I'm not kidding - then stormed off by stomping her feet like a child. She also has the grossest ass I think I've ever seen on someone her age. This flabby, flat ass that hangs over the top of her legs. Like old man ass or something. Part of the shoot was her in some lingerie and my favorite thing of the entire shoot was that I had to hold a full length mirror in front of her so she could see herself posing since she couldn't do so without it (she's looking right at me/the mirror in the last pic below with the disco ball). Just so insanely unprofessional overall.

Nothing as good as some of these stories but...

I had totally forgotten my Tara Reid encounter. This was back years ago. She was still very fresh faced and cute. I went to a gym that had hour long boxing sessions. Quite a workout.

She came in one night. I'd never seen her there before and she never came again. She was with some ******bag guy in a Sacramento Kings Jersey. Just in every shape form and fashion a total loser. She was so cool then and so friendly with everyone. She looked fit, but wasn't in particularly great shape. The fat ass she was with was in even worse shape though. Still, it's incredible she let what she had go to waste. You could tell it was just youth--she wasn't really committed to keeping what she had.

One thing about living in this neighborhood is you can tell who takes care of themselves and who doesn't. Like I said, Alessandra Ambrosia does the stairs. Reese Witherspoon is always out jogging (Reese in yoga pants also has a bit of a mind-scrambling effect). And she's got a very nice figure still. I also see Mel Gibson at my new gym a lot. Dude busts his ass in the gym.
