It was a figure of speech. I didn't mean that I was really going to revolt or boycott or whatever. Besides, I consider the money I spend on movies - good or bad - almost like an investment in a career. Or, at the very least, like I'm spending money on a course. I learn just as much from the bad ones as I do the good ones.

TDS supersedes all of that. Can they possibly pass up an opportunity to portray a character as a caricature of a President that they loathe with every breath they take, a character that is known to be brutally murdered?

If this idea is actually being pursued and will eventually show up in a movie, then that's it for me with anything coming out of DC/WB.

Poke fun all you want but judging by the number of celebrities who have come out with asinine statements regarding Trump, it is clearly a very real syndrome.

Turn on pretty much any news station and you'll get an earful/eyeful of anti-Trump stuff. I don't want that crap in the movies that I might like to see (unless it is central to the story). Case in point, I saw The Meg most recently. No political crap there. Just a giant prehistoric shark eating people. And I haven't turned on any news station recently, so there, I'm able to keep that political garbage at arm's length.

BDS happened during Bush's years.

It's less that it's not your candidate, and more that everything they do is bad and everything bad that happens is their fault, resulting in a constant stream of hollywood related references.

Example 1: During Supergirl this year, despite already establishing a pro-alien female president, the writers managed to shoehorn in a line about how the president hates all immigrants and wants a wall

Example 2: Joker Movie: Turning Dr Wayne into a cheesy Trump Caricature.

It's a legit term and Trump isn't the first one to be referred to. When you have Deniro launching into profanity laced tirades against the man at award shows, or award shows devote significant speeches to attacking the man, that's the textbook example.

Perhaps it is asinine, but it is a reality. If WB truly wants to go this direction, then I can guarantee that the topic will continue to be discussed.

Some of us just want to be fans of these characters and shows without having the producer's, writer's, and director's political drivel shoved in our faces.

So does this Joker movie essentially end with a quick glimpse of Phoenix as the Joker and then the movie is over? None of this makes sense. Stupid DC.

I hate when these kinds of topics come up and people say that they don't want social issues, real world problems, etc. in their entertainment.

These kinds of things are in almost every bit of pop culture, because the creators all have their own perspective when they write, produce, sing, direct, everything. If you like a piece of work, well, you're liking the manifestation of that artist's voice, which of damn course comes from their own experience or opinion on any number of issues.

So you can like it or not, but even the most basic of movies or television is definitely a tool for that artist to express their take on things.

If you can come to terms with the fact that artists don't always share your beliefs, then you can either enjoy the work or not, based on personal taste. I know I've enjoyed plenty of movies and tv shows even if they have instances of things I don't agree with.

It's one thing to use your creative license to present an opinion.

It's another to whip out a seldgehammer and beat me over the head with it. Writers nowadays have the nuance of a hand grenade. My wife and I started watching Glee years ago and quit because every episode we were being lectured about something.

Politics is going to work its way into media, but the point is to entertain, not pontificate.

And IF it's true that Baldwin is going to play the character as a cheesy version of Trump who ultimately gets murdered, it goes far beyond a mere sprinkling of the writer's politics into his art. It's just left wing political porn at that point. It's bad for DC, WB and it's especially bad for the culture. I hope it's not true, or at the very least that they reign it in at some point.

I certainly don't intend to turn this into a political debate about the nature of politics in entertainment. I've said my piece and am moving on, but from the sounds, this new idea of Wayne is as bad or worse than Lex in MoS.
