I totally agree that the Joker being part of the Suicide Squad would play against type, and not in a good way, but what if he never actually joins? What if he's kind of a solo third party screwing things up for everyone. Or maybe he's even the target of the Suicide Squad? What if he's broken out of jail/the asylum, is wreaking some major havoc, and they assemble the Suicide Squad to take him out? Then again, seeing as this is immediately following Batman v Superman, why wouldn't they just get Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman to take him (or whatever the threat of SS end up being) out? My guess is that the ending of Batman v Superman either somehow renders Batman unable to go after the Joker (or whoever) in SS, and maybe Superman is off chasing something in outer space? Who knows?
