Part of this is about expectations and projections. DC was clearly expecting a much bigger splash.

Suicide Squad is doing pretty damn well (probably three weeks at #1), but if reports are true, the budget and marketing costs were through the roof.

Not much, biggest differences are that he grows his hair out, uses sharpie to color his finger nails black, and jams emo music on full blast in the fortress of solitude. Also, his grades start to slip and he loses interest in activities he used to enjoy. Lois also notices that he's started hanging out with an unsavory bunch of new friends and he smells like cigs and axe deodorant when he gets home after curfew. Aside from that, same ol' Man of Steel.

Yup. I think they're just relieved that their cinematic universe has proven to be critic-proof though. Once they start getting more critical acclaim (if ever), they'll be making even better money.

Are we talking a live action Justice League Dark?
I know an animated one comes out in a few months. Live action would be dumb. It would turn into another Suicide Squad because they'd have to introduce a bunch of new characters that most people haven't heard of like Zatanna, Constantine, Deadman, possibly Raven. They'd probably include Batman in it as well. If people had problems with the magic in the universe, that is basically all that JLD is and deal with as well as other universes.

Supposedly. That was my concern too (another team-up, little crossover potential) but I guess there aren't many details yet. Could be 2023 for all we know, or never happen after all.

At this point I think every single WB/DC film that comes out will be mediocre at best, around the range of 4-6 out of ten. But it won't matter because gullible people will still get their hopes up that DC learned their lesson with the LAST film. Then those people will see the trailer and get all kinds of excited because a few snippets of the movie didn't appear to suck. So they'll fork over money for opening weekend. And DC will make enough money on that to justify forging ahead with their craptastic movies, meanwhile word will get out that the movie does indeed suck (shock!) and tickets will diminish by 40-50% in the second weekend. Everyone will curse DC.....until the rumors about the next movie start up then.....well, you know.

In the launch of this comic, they started out adding Batman to give it weight and the thing still got cancelled.
But I'm sure the concept that failed with comic book fans will work in a movie marketed by a studio with a bad track record to a mass audience.

In fact just do a 90's afternoon Disney cartoon universe. First a Darkwing Duck movie... Then Ducktales. Talespin, and Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers.
Then they all come together Avengers style to fight Nega Duck... BOOM. Billion dollar franchise right there. Give me my producer credit Disney.
