The U.S. Being able to trick the soviets into creating a faulty submarine is just brilliant war/spy maneuvering, and initially I expected something closer to a "tip of the cap & well played" from Phil and Liz. It's not like the Russians wouldn't do the exact same thing if they had the chance.
Maybe the complaining falls within the realm of characters beginning to break, but it goes against my idea of who they are.
