Red boxed it last week. I enjoyed it

AA is hot, but the movie sucked

Good not great movie imho. Amy Adams can look smokin when she wants.

It'll be interesting to see how this one fares historically with the critics and fans. I felt like basically the entire appeal of the movie was that it was really... precious:

- big name cast dressed in vintage clothes
- disco era music and fashion which you don't see much in movies... done very well
- movie poster that looks in the Goodfellas/Casino style

Everyone eats that stuff up, but the movie didn't do it for me. I thought it was poorly casted as all of the main characters depicted I never lost myself in and didn't think of the character itself over the actor playing the character. In that sense, I thought it was overacted. Cinematography and style were great... as were a few of the scenes, but overall, the product was all over the place and came off as a bit cheap and cheesy in my opinion.

Tough critics here.
Darned good film

I will say that as much as I liked the movie, I'd like to see a more serious treatment of Abscam now.

I think every single movie that got Oscar buzz this year was over-hyped. None great or even real good, a few decent, most very average.

Movie was just OK. Chuckled a few times. Doubt I'll see it again.

None are a movie I'd see again, only Her was thoughtful and provocative. To be fair I didn't see Nebraska or Philimena but the wife did and didn't really think much of either.

It typical Hollywood fashion they went for style over substance.

I thought Dallas Buyer's Club was fantastic. And arguably the best argument for small government I've ever seen come out of Hollywood.

I liked DBC solid but not very good, thought it started out real slow and of course if they had a liberal point to make like in Norma Rhea, Erin Brokovich or China Syndrome they could have made a great movie, but they didn't want to bash the FDA or the government that much. Again it was hyped because of subject matter (AIDS) and dark, dirty, gritty value, that is a Hollywood grand-slam right there.

I wanted to like this more than I did. It was a setting for a great movie, but I just don't feel there was any real intrigue or interest built via the plot at all. The storyline was good, but putting all together just gave you an average movie.

Bale did a pretty good job though.

Jennifer Lawrence is overrated as an actress. Same character, no depth or range. Should not have been nominated or won last year for Silver Lining.

Just redboxed it and I want my money back.

Either JL was a miscast or she truly stinks at that role.

I'm not a Bradley cooper fan, but he was the only one worth a damn the entire movie which is shocking because Bale was the lead. Bale just disappears from every scene. Wtf?!

After the boxing film with Marky mark I just expect bale to suck the oxygen out of scenes. But in AH, they could have gotten a cardboard cut out to stand in for him and it wouldn't have changed the film.

Just saw it for first time.

Fantastic movie. The acting was incredible. Loved it.

I saw it in the theatre, and have it in home video (initial week of availability).
