Is anyone watching this travesty!?! It is worth watching just for how horrible it is. Carry Underwood is awful...

I just turned it on. I actually like Carrie Underwood, but her voice doesnt strike me as the big musical type.

And she should not try to act. At least train for a British accent...

My wife has never seen the original. I will not let her watch anymore of this trash so as not to ruin a future viewing of the real movie.

She is doing well for this being her first theater production. I don't see why everyone is complaining. Since they wanted a conventional singer, who else could you possibly choose?

She is not doing well. They shouldn't have even done this.

For goodness sake, this is the MUSICAL version, not the MOVIE version. And Carrie may not be the best actress, but she has the pipes to pull off all of the singing. Haven't heard her screw up too badly yet.

It's not that she's screwing up, it's that you don't mess with a masterpiece. Most actors, even on stage, use the proper accent. Her worst part is speaking.

CU's acting is terrible, but her singing is not bad. Unfortunately, this role requires some acting. Props to her for taking on the role, but she's miscast.

The kids singing together are pretty good.

The Captain is awful. He looks about 28.

The sets are very well done. I see where all the money went. They should have spent it on singing talent.

The lighting has been off all the way through.

Watching this as well - this thread and other blogs and twitter are giving this a Mystery Science Theater 3000 feel - like Sharknado.

I'll admit Carrie is not the best actress in the world, but she has improved greatly from her small role in Soul Surfer. The singing is on point. I agree, the lighting has just bugged me the whole night, but I digress.

Why do all things have to be considered and given a pass? This looks like a crappy high school play because they chose to do it live. Well who made them do that? They chose to and I'll judge them for it. Instead of choosing one of any number of actresses capable of both singing and acting, they chose to "prioritize" singing and cast someone who has no business acting. Well who made them do that? Etc etc etc....

Read that NBC is shelling out $10M for this and won't come close to recouping that tonight, but expect to on future airings, running this every year as a "holiday classic". What a typically NBC business plan. Can't imagine anyone watching this again.

The "Climb Every Mountain" scene was really good.
