is it broadcast from New York? maybe there is some technical issue why showing a rerun is easier than a new episode in a situation where power might be lost, or in a situation where most of the workers can't be at the station.

Should have rerun the NYC Hurricane episode.
And I think they chose to show a rerun because 4 of the top 10 tv markets had local hurricane coverage on last night.

they have made Marshal and Lilly's characters absolutely useless and stupid. I guess they have no idea how to write in a married couple with a kid who have single friends.
basically Ted proposed to Victoria and she said only if Ted stopped being friends with Robin (ala 90's Friends storyline with Ross, Rachel, and Emily).
they tried to drama it up - but he told Victoria he wouldn't stop being friends with Robin and Victoria left.

Your dvr probably though it already recorded this episode last week since both this week and last week were listed as the same episode.

They had a similar episode/storyline (can't remember how long it went) on BBT, with Leonard, Priya, and Penny.
And Friends did it before that with Ross/Emily/Rachel.
Ted should have been all like, "Stop being a dumb bich and don't be jelly of aunt robin...wait...you know what? Get the ***k out. Now."

Toolman, I think that one was all of his friends, not just Robin. It was the really snotty girl played by Laura Prepon.
It wasn't her. Looked through IMDB...It was Sarah Chalke in the previous season. Very similar situation. Asked both to Marry him. Both had the problem with Robin. Seemed like a replay since I saw both episodes within a couple days.
Oh yeah. I knew about her, too, but that wasn't what broke them up in the end. It was her going back to her ex.

Last night's episode was so bad it's not even worth delving into further.
Not sure which is limping worse at the end of it's run- The Office or this? That was a terrible ep.
That was a bad episode and the "you can't be friends with her" angle is so tired and rehashed I was honestly embarrassed for them.

Brover was freaking hilarious. I laughed pretty hard at Robin's explanation to Brover's owner as to why she and Barney were not a couple.
I'm really really disappointed in how Marshall is being portrayed this season. He went from making the show to being an absolute downer every episode. Monday night's was the worst so far this year for Marshall.

It is me or do the sets look worse this year?
Marshal has had some great moments, but he does nothing now. Was really annoying this episode
