they didn't have to do it like that other than to make it a great episode ending tense scene.
He should have started speculating after he went with the "like you killed Mike!" scene in the desert. He could have continued on a string of consciousness like "who else did you kill?!" rant, and then blurted Brock's name, seen Walt's face, and that would have been
way more tense of a scene if he were to still have left the situation and "agreed" to go along with the identity trade in, but then go and do the same ending.
IMO, it was a waste to ruin the "lightbulb" scene of Brock and not have Walter on camera facing Jesse. That would be way more tense
Actually, just writing my scenario out I like it better already.
