I just want to see something that is anywhere near the same ballpark as T1 and T2, and I have the very strong feeling that I'm not going to get it.

See reviews for Iron Man, The Dark Knight, and Star Trek.

Critics can appreicate a mindless entertaining summer blockbuster for being a mindless entertaining summer blockbuster...when it's entertaining.

There is one key ingredient to those two movies that this one lacks: James Cameron

If you want to see something as awe-inspiring as those two were when they came out, Cameron's Avatar is coming out in December and early word on it is through the roof.

Just got back. DEFINITELY not as bad as the reviews make it out to be. Low on narrative, yes. But the action scenes were great. The Marcus Wright and Kyle Reese characters were awesome. John Connor/Christian Bale was serviceable.

The terminators were pretty cool. Especially the harvester one.

A couple of scenes were eh. Some of them were overtly catered to the audience and/or past Terminator references.

I'd give it a 7/10.

I really enjoyed it. Good throwbacks to the original two movies. Great sequences. It's for sure worth seeing if you enjoy the Terminator series.

And, seriously, if you actually think movie critics are going to give good reviews to a movie like this, you are kidding yourselves.

T2 got good reviews, didn't it?

And its the epitome of cool to sh*t on sequels because they'll NEVER be as good as the first.

Again... T2? The Dark Knight?

Even Transformers managed to score 57% on RT.

Good to hear a couple of positive reviews from normal movie goers.

On the contrary, I do.

Watchmen was very, very bad.

At least Plan 9 From Outer Space was unintentionally funny. Watchmen didn't even have that going for it.

I saw it last night and was pleasantly surprised. I'd say that it is way better than T3, but still not up to the level of T1 and especially T2.

I also love how "opening weekend" sales of a movie keep getting pushed earlier into the week (this damn thing aired at Midnight on Wednesday night). Likely they will count "weekend" sales from Wed night all the way through Monday since it's a holiday then act surprised that it made more money than something that counted from Friday to Sunday night.

More and more, we are seeing less rated R movies in favor of watering down things to PG-13 just so more people can watch the movie to bolster sales. This movie is supposed to be about machines and humans killing each other...why the hell shouldn't it be rated R?

This annoyed the hell out of me. The first one ("come with me if you want to live" perhaps?) or two were cool, the next 50 were a little much

I enjoyed it as an action movie. Some interesting visuals along the way and I'm glad I saw it. The down side is that it was shallow, rushed, and felt like the shell of what could've been a much greater movie. There's a "second chances" theme that seemed to apply to Marcus and possibly humanity as a whole, but that's about as deep as it got. It's almost as if the budget got yanked on it, or the editors just hacked it to pieces. Seeing old school Arnold again was pretty neat. Go see it as an action film and it should be adequate.

Saw it today. The overall so-so reviews have been spot on.

I give it a 5/10. About on the same level as T3. Action was better, but plot was actually a little worse.

There are some, major, major plot holes; and Skynet has got to be the dumbest computer ever invented.

i'm a big Terminator fan.

that said, i think its a lil concerning that the movie is getting as many 'so-so' type reviews because human nature would dictate that anyone who is a big fan of T, and T2 especially will really want this movie to be good, and therefore will likely come out of any sequel/prequel giving it a favorable response just because they want it to be good. i think that happens with a lot of sequels. even sequels that dont stand the test of time, and have everyone calling them 'the suck' a few years after release.

so if you factor in the fact that a lot of people coming out of this movie are just giving it decent reviews just because its another installment of a movie franchise they love, then i'm expecting this movie to not be very good honestly.

i could be wrong of course.

This is what you are asking for when you hire McG.

I will never give him another chance after We Are Marshall. Regardless of the fact that McConaughey was starring, the story was great and there should have been an awesome movie. I was completely underwhelmed and said the exact same thing: shallow, rushed, and the shell of what could have been a great movie.

Just got back. I would think if you liked Terminator movies, you would like this one. I'm personally a big fan. Very solid action movie.

You aren't going to get another T:2. Just try to enjoy it despite that fact and you'll leave pleased.

I'd go as far as to say it was good, nowhere near deserving a 20 something % on RT.

I'm a huge Terminator fan and watched it tonight at 7pm. This will come as a shock to some. But as a huge fan I liked the first three better. But I would predict that people that aren't huge fans and just thought the first three were kinda cool will probably like this 4th movie the best

It has a totally different feel to it comparing it against the first three. The action scenes were really cool. Ron Howard's daughter is freaking hot (she plays major role in movie)

The guy that Roland Kickinger looked EXACTLY like Schwartzenegger

McG cut Moon Bloodgood's "important" scene to get that PG-13 rating. It was downhill from there.

Because they digitally put Arnold's face on Kickinger's body.

I enjoyed the movie and am a huge Terminator fan. It is probably the third best of the four and certainly would have been better with a better director/production/editing.

My complaints:
Bale overacted
PG13
McG
Needed more killing

I wasn't impressed. I really wanted it to be good, but it was barely okay. I thought that I might like it more if I didn't care at all about the overall Terminator story, but my wife didn't care for it much either.

Oh well.

The story line and acting were just, "eh." Nothing really pulled you into any of the characters. There were some good action sequences to make up for it. Over all I enjoyed it.

IMDB says McG is directing T5.

IMDB is not right until deals have been signed(until then, it's about as reliable as wikipedia)...no deal has been signed for T5 yet, and WB hasn't even officially greenlighted a sequel yet (based on the box office results, that may not ever happen).

Studios have apparently been fighting over him, he's getting $8M to do 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for Disney.

Ridiculous.

Went to the movie this weekend…and Rotten tomatoes was right again…big disappointment and by far the worst in the Terminator series; even including the Fox TV series “Sarah Conner Chronicles”. The dialog and actors in the film are just plot devices to get to the next big explosion. Big disappointment, don’t go…wait for video. It’s worth the $1 Redbox rental, but that’s about it.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Well, this fighting was before the T4 release, and probably all based on the trailer- that will prob subside now. If anybody has learned anything from Entourage, it's to sign for your next project before everyone figures out how much your soon-to-be-released project sucks.

You'll notice that it's not WB, the only studio that had seen the early cuts of T4, giving him the $8M...

The question is how anyone managed to convince themselves this guy had any talent, and based on prior work, how they believed he would do anything other than botch T4.
